Intro
SPEAKER_04A coast-to-coast discussion of D2 Men's lacrosse. I'm your co-host, Kevin Stentrum, and with me as always is my partner in crime, Danny Moran. Hey, Danny.
SPEAKER_02Hey, Kevin, how are you doing tonight in Northern Virginia? How's it going?
SPEAKER_04I'll tell you what, it's been a whirlwind today. I kind of went through it. Don't want to bore the listeners, but uh it was I'm back. I'm ready to do the podcast, ready to have some fun talking lacrosse, D2 lacrosse with you. Sounds good, man. Sounds good. Hey, before we get started, just a little correction from last week. And this is by another listener, keeping us on our toes, keeping us honest, which you and I love. We mentioned a U Indy short stick D. Middy, but we used Ben Foster's name. Well, he's an attackman. We meant to say Kyle Bosch. And we just we get heated in the moment. There's like we were talking about, there's 40, 50 names in our notes and in our head. And sometimes it just doesn't go right on the podcast. But we thank our listener for correcting us. That's what what we love to see. Keep us honest and let us know.
SPEAKER_02Let me ask you. Was it Mrs. Bash?
SPEAKER_04I cannot reveal any sources at this time.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you gave it away already. I should be a detective. I should have been a detective. Well, you know what? That was my mistake. I did get heated up. That was a great game to watch. And I love Kyle Bash. I love the way he plays. He's one of the best short stick D minis in the country, in my opinion. But uh I did. I got carried away. I got carried away myself and I mentioned the wrong name. It happens. I'm a knucklehead sometimes.
SPEAKER_04And then there's like several. The funny thing is, there's like several Ben Fosters. There's a Ben Foster on Lewis, too. I mean, we could we just use Ben Foster's name when we can't remember anything else. That's what we'll do on.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. That's funny.
SPEAKER_04Sorry, guys. Sorry about that one. Yeah. So now are you ready? Are you ready to move on to the top 10 roundup?
Top 10 Roundup
SPEAKER_02The top 10 roundup. Hey, Kev, this week's top 10 roundup. Number one, Lemoyne beat Southern New Hampshire 13-9. And they beat Pace tonight, this evening, as we speak, just a couple of minutes ago, 12-8. So Lemoyne is 7-0. Number two, Mercy beat Deuville, woof, 26-2. And the Mavs are 8-1. Yeah, I know. Number three, Tampa beat a scrappy Westminster team by one. Had to hang on, Kev. Beat them 11-10, and the Spartans are at 8-1. Lenore Ryan beat Kataaba. Number four, Lenore Ryan beat Kataba rather handily, 20-7, and the Bears are at 8-1, Kev. Number five, a Delphi beat. Then number 10, St. Anslums, 11-4, and the Panthers are at 7-0, Kev. Number six, Undy hung on to beat Lewis by 1, 13-12, and the Greyhounds sit at 7-1. Number 7, Mercyhurst beat Aldison Broadest 28-1, Kev, and the Lakers sit at 5-1. Number 8, Wingate Bulldogs beat Mars Hill rather handily, 17-9. Defense looked real good in that one. And the Bulldogs sit at 8-1. Frostburg State, number nine, beat UDC 30-3. Frostburg State sits at 8-0, but guess what? They lost to Seton Hill tonight in overtime 13-12. And number 10, Pace beat AIC 12-3 earlier in the week, but lost to Lemoyne tonight. So that's your top 10 roundup.
Week in Review
SPEAKER_04That was awesome. I have a note, I'm looking at Inside Lacrosse. I have Seaton Hill winning against Frostburg 14-13. Am I wrong in it was 13-13?
SPEAKER_02Was it 13-12 or 14-13?
SPEAKER_04I don't know. Sometimes I'm just looking at inside lacrosse. They have it at 14-13.
SPEAKER_02I think it was.
SPEAKER_04It was a one-goal game.
SPEAKER_02And over time. And it was good. It was a good game. I watched it.
SPEAKER_04All right, that's awesome. Well now, time to move on to the week in review. And this week, Danny showed us once again, just like we get names wrong, we don't always pick the right games to highlight. We don't know the comments. So let's just start off the one that we one of them we did not highlight, and I did not think it would go this way, and that's the one you mentioned in the top 10 roundup. Tampa against Westminster. Tampa wins in overtime 11-10. The Griffins played a very smart game. That first half, at least, if not most of the game, I was watching their D, and their D had great slide packages, and they recovered. So it was a slide, recover, slide. They had guys on the backside recovering, and it just did not let Tampa get any kind of rhythm. And then their goalie, Jacob Miller, had an unbelievable game in net.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I didn't see the game, Kev. I didn't see that because that wasn't on the docket.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so I was watching it. So the one thing I'd say about Westminster that I saw is they threw the ball away as they were trying to transition outlet, you know, clears. They were trying to do a long transition passes, and they they would lose the ball. They would they would turn it over. And I don't understand it with some of the middies they have, why they didn't try, you know, I can only see half the field too, so I don't know exactly what they're seeing that they may look open. Right. Passes weren't crisp, and then they turn it over, and that those stats really showed it. So the clear stats, Tampa was 24 of 24, Westminster 20 of 29.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well that's a big that's a big difference in stats for sure. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So it was it was a it was but it was still a it was a phenomenal game. Tampa goes up by two in the fourth. So Westminster had the lead at halftime, and Tampa then switches it around, goes up two in the fourth, but Westminster remains patient, and they scored late with two minutes left, and they tied it up. Merrick McMahon scored both uh uh of those goals, and then Luke Silstroph for the team also had two goals that day. So they had some good good guys playing. I think Merritt McMahon in the end had three goals. In over so they go to overtime. Westminster wins the faceoff. And I'm thinking, time out. This is it. This is it. Time out. But they couldn't capitalize when they had the ball, and they and Tampa got got it back and they cleared, and uh, that's when they brought it down and scored and won and won the game in overtime. So, you know, Tampa usual kind of uh suspects. Harry Kowkowski had two goals, three assists, Luke McEnaney had five goals and two assists. He really, really played well for Matthew Badeau, four ground balls, four cost turnovers. Now I mentioned so I mentioned some of their goal scores, but like Jacob Miller, he had 20 saves for Westminster. So Westminster balled out in this game, and damn it, I thought they were gonna pull it out in overtime when they won the face-off. Great game to watch.
SPEAKER_02Anytime if the game goes into overtime like that, those are usually exciting games, Kev. I love watching those games. You know what? I wonder why Westminster didn't call a timeout when they got the ball in overtime and look to set something up. I'm curious about that.
SPEAKER_04Maybe they already had it set before they started the face-off. They said, you know, if we win the face-off, this is what we're gonna do. Yeah, it's possible. They had a shot. They just, you know, they just couldn't couldn't keep it in their end. So, all right, but that was a great game. And one of those games that I did not expect to be that way. And that will show you once again somewhat of the parody. Westminster. You know, they're a really good team, even though they're below 500.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Their overall record.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you know, they have a pretty hard schedule, first of all. They travel a lot, they travel a lot of miles. That's second of all. But you know what? They they gave you know Tampa a game, and and Tampa's been in a few tight ones this year, Kevin. They got a loss on the on their belt this year. So, you know what? Kudos to Westminster. Give them a good game, keep your heads up high, boys.
SPEAKER_04But Tampa, you know, they find ways to win, Kevin. They do. They do. All right. How about St. Leo, Florida Tech? Did you watch any of that game?
SPEAKER_02I watched the entire game because I thought that was going to be a big game. I thought that, you know, for St. Leo, it's a huge, huge game. And uh let me tell you something.
unknownSt.
SPEAKER_02Leo took it to Florida Tech that night. They took it to him, man. It was uh 3-1 after one and uh 9-3 at half. I I mean they just took it to him, they just outshot him, shot outshots on goal. Uh saves were pretty much close. Um Florida Tech had 18 turnovers. St. Leo only had 12. Guess what? Florida Tech 9 for 13 at the clear. Not so good, not so good. But um, big game for uh for uh St. Leo. They played well. My man Thomas Nealan was the high score, high point getter, got three goals and three assists. He had a great game. And uh Greg Palmer, Justin Williams, and uh guy Guy Bistro, you know, uh just a bunch of guys adding one goals. Um bunch of guys assisted on a bunch of goals. So they really played a team game. They played hard, and St. Leo took it to a team that was, you know, ranked number 20.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, they I I'll tell you what, I wrote St. The Lions dominated. They just throughout the whole game, it was their game. And what was interesting is Greg Palmer, you mentioned him, he's another freshman along with Thomas Nealand. He had four goals and one assist. Like we talked to Coach Jorgensen. He's when he sent us notes for the conference preview. He said, I've got a young team, but I like the guys I've got. It looks like these freshmen are starting to step up. And they played a complete game against Florida Tech, who is a very good team.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that was a big game. Sunshine State conference game. Um, just you know, two, you know, ranked Florida Tech was ranked 20th with that loss there out, and with Lewis playing tight, they're back in. Um, and and I just thought that St. Leo, they lost their first three or four cap, and then they won every game since. So they're they're trending, they are trending upwards. They got a couple of doable, winnable games on left on their schedule. And um, I'm thinking that St. Leo is gonna be gonna be there at tournament time in the in the conference.
SPEAKER_04It's looking that way right now. I it wouldn't I would not doubt it if they were in there. We'll see how they handle some of the other teams, but so far, I mean, taking care of Florida Tech is a big win from the team.
SPEAKER_02They're 6-3, and now they're 1-0 in conference. That's a big win for the Lions and Coach Jorgensen.
SPEAKER_04It is. Okay, how about St. Anselm against Adelphi? A Delphi pulls this out, winning 11-4, Danny, and let me tell you, I was shocked by this, by the final score, not that Adelphi won, and let me tell you why, because I could watch the first half, then I had to go to a funeral. And it was evenly matched that first half. In the end, St. A's had it 3-2 at half, and they were holding, both D's were pressing out, both defenses were playing well. It was kind of a defensive struggle. So it wasn't like I thought St. A's with only a one-goal lead was necessarily going to win, but I thought it was gonna be a close game. But because I had to leave, you have to fill in the rest for me. What happened?
SPEAKER_02All right, I felt a Delphi, this was their first real test of the year. They've had a pretty favorable schedule, but they've also had six games under their belt, whereas St. A's was only they only had three coming into that game. And I gave the edge to a Delphi because of that reason. It was 3-2 at half St. A's, Kevin. It was a defensive game in the beginning, like like two heavyweights just kind of like jabbing and feeling each other out. The second half, oh man, it was all Logan Tucker and Jason Rabuto. Those guys lit it up in the second half. It was a different Adelphi team in the second half. They just blew the doors open and outscored them 5-1 in the third and 4-0 in the fourth. They just, they just blew the doors off of St. A's. They couldn't get anything going offensively, St. Anselms. Um Adelphi was bigger, stronger, faster, and deeper. Adelphi looked very, very good to me, Kev. Very good to me. And again, that was their first real test. But again, and St. A's hadn't been in many games this year so far. You know, I think it takes you four, five, six games to kind of get your mojo going, you know, and get all the offense figured out and all the defense figured out. It's hard to do in just three games. And then you have to play a Delphi, you know.
SPEAKER_04Well, they went back to back with Lemoyne and a Delphi. That's that's a combo that I don't know if I'd want in my first three and four games.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but a Delphi, Logan Tucker had five, Jason Rabuto had three, Kyle Lewis, Jack Kippner, and Steinbeck all had one, and for Saint-Ay's, Chase Lilly had one, Will Andrews had one, Jack Andrews had one, and uh Noah Larson had an assist, and Nick Larson had an assist. Um shots are pretty kind of even in the game, 37 to 32 with the edge going to a Delphi. Um Dylan Renner in goal, Kevin. No. He might be one of the hottest goal goalies in all of Division II right now. He's just he's on fire. He doesn't let anything buy. He had 14 saves. St. Anselm's is a good team. Again, like just like you just said, they ran into Lemoyne and Adelphi back to back. So, and only two or three games under their belt into this season. But again, Adelphi and the Panthers look very good to me, Kevin.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, it'll be interesting to see how they play the rest of the conference play, especially mark them against Lemoyne. That will be a game to watch. All right, Danny. So here's another game that we did not mention last week that I had to watch on replay because it was going on while I was at the funeral. Uh, but it was Barton against Belmont Abbey. Did you see any of that? I did not. Three overtimes, Danny, Belmont Abbey comes out and wins 12-11. Wow. This was an amazing game. If you if you tee it up, we should have teed this up for this week anyway. If you look at it, Belmont Abbey, kind of one of those teams, along with Mount Olive, always at the top of Conference Carolinas. And here comes Barton wanting to replace them at the top of the mountain. Knock them off that mountaintop. Barton comes out like that. They go up early, 3-0 in the first four and a half minutes of the game. They did it by winning all the face-offs and basically keeping possession. Belmont Abbey didn't see the ball on offense for a while. And then they had Barton had good physical play on D early on. But Belmont Abbey scrapes back, they score the next two to get within one, three to two, and that's how the first quarter ended. And then the second quarter, Belmont Abbey was hanging in there with some nice, they had some nice cuts. They were cutting, their offense was making some nice cuts for goals. They tied it up 5'5 with an unsettled goal by pushing transition, and that's where it remained at half, 5'5. But then Barton, beginning of the third quarter, they mirrored their first quarter. They scored three in a row in the first three minutes. Wow. Okay. And then they added another with 9.16 left. So they go up and they open up an advantage of 11 to 6 with just under two minutes left in the third, and it stays that way to the end of third. So Barton had kind of a mirror, once again, of the first quarter. Barton had possession most of the third. They looked like they were on fire. They were playing for something uh more than just the score, as they remember the teammate Seth Mandrick. We'll get to that later on. But Belmont Abbey scores five in the fourth and holds Barton to zero goals. Wow. And like you said, Danny, when we talked last week about St. A's against Lemoyne, I saw Barton, they came out in the third quarter, it was five-five. They played with urgency in the third, and they just they lit it up and they kept that pace going. I don't think I saw that in the fourth. And I wrote a note. Are they, you know, watching it in replayed, were they trying to just milk it? They had a five-goal lead, were they trying to milk it and just because a lot of times they were they were holding it until the end, you know, 15, 20 seconds, 15 seconds probably left in the shot clock, and then try to score. Instead of what they were doing in the third, which was like they were moving it and trying to get get shots. So that's what brought Belmont Abbey back. And Barton then they go to three overtimes. In the second overtime, Barton had their chances near the end of the second overtime, two or three times in the same possession, but they just could not bury it. It was either like it hit the post or Thomas Sullivan had a good save. It just was not going in for them. And then Belmont Abbey comes back and they scored in the third overtime with a shot that was about 12 yards out, low to low. And if you ask me, that was a goal that was stopped. A shot that was stopped several times. It just, to me, it surprised me. I had to go back on replay. I watched it again. Like, was he, you know, was he shielded to get that goal past the goalie? And and Belmont Abbey team went berserk with that win. It was kind of it was an exciting game.
SPEAKER_02You know, that's the the emotion of the game. You know, you're up and then you're down, and then you're tied, and then you're up, and then you're down, and then you're tied, and then you go into overtime, and you have a chance and you can't, and they have a chance and they can't. Yeah, and you go into a second overtime and they get two, three shots, and nothing worse than hitting a post in overtime. I tell you what. Yeah. But man, that sounds like a great game. It was a good game.
SPEAKER_04All right, let's move on. We did have two, let's talk about the peach belt games that we had circled from last week and games to watch. How about Lander against Alabama Huntsville? I called it. I called it. Lander wins fairly handily 17-9. Did you watch any of that game?
SPEAKER_02I did. I watched the first half, Kev. And I thought, you know, Alabama Huntsville went out on a run real pretty quick, you know, was 5-3 after one. I was like, okay, you know, Alabama Huntsville looks like Alabama Huntsville, you know, and these two teams, Beach Belt guys, they get after it, you know that. And then Lander put on a show in the second in the second quarter and out and outscored them six to three. I mean, and and then that you had a nine-eight lander, you know, lead at at halftime. I was like, okay, this is a game. But I didn't watch the rest of the game, though. But you know what? Lander, I you know, these two teams, Kevin, when they they go after it like two, three times a year, these guys, you know. Yeah, I mean They know each other very well.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, exactly. They and this is what I would say, this is kind of the notes I had is first of all, Alabama Huntsville in that first quarter, they just had some really good spacing on offense, looking for open shots, and and they were all because of that spacing, I think they were able to beat an aggressive D, either through either through passes or through a nice, a nice dodge. Lander changed it up in the second and then the third, I think, by a 10-man ride, and riding and being aggressive. And in the third, because of their ride, the Chargers were only able to clear two of eight times. And their final clears were 11 of 24.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they were horrible at clearing. The ride was killing them.
SPEAKER_04But that's exactly what it was. They did fine in the first quarter. Lander, you know, changed their tactics and really got aggressive with a with a ride. And that just that was, I think, the tipping point for Lander and for the Chargers on UAH to tip it towards Lander. Lander was up 14-9 after three. And then they scored two quick goals in the fourth. So now they're up 16-9. And they go into more of a stall mode in the fourth, right? Because now they're up by seven goals, and they ran it around just like I was talking about with uh Barton.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_04And and you know what? They didn't need to worry about too much because uh there were zero goals, you know, they held at UAH to zero goals in the fourth as well. So for Lando, though, they had some some key offensive uh folks there. Adam Mather, six goals, six goals, one assist.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, man. He had a game.
SPEAKER_04And then Kyle Dick DeCrespino. DeCrespino, I always say that wrong. I'm gonna have to give Coach a call and tell him to be fixed. De Crespino. De Crespino. Three goals, four assists for a total of uh seven points as well.
SPEAKER_02That's a game right there. Those two guys were balling out.
SPEAKER_04They were, and then Alabama Huntsville, Pete Fabrizio, three goals, one assist, and Ian Arnt, who we've talked about before with three goals. So I think the other thing besides the clears were caused turnovers. Lander had 19, Alabama Huntsville four. Wow. And it really started a little bit in the second, but really happened in the third and the fourth for that.
SPEAKER_02So it came down to defense for Lander. They upped their defense. It was basically what's going on in that game. Yep. Yep. And you know what? And again, you know what? Lander's now that they sit at 7-3, 1-0 in conference, and Huntsville's 7-4, 0-1 in conference. So talk about a matchup, two evenly matched teams, same, same conference. These guys will be probably getting after it in the in the peach belt in tournament at championship day.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Well, and that's what made this game so so interesting to begin with.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that was a big one.
SPEAKER_04Okay, how about Flagler Montevallo?
SPEAKER_02Great game. Great game. I loved watching this game. I like Flagler. I like this team. I like, even though they're a second-year program, you know, I just like what Coach is doing there. He's got some athletes. And I said on last week's podcast, Kevin, the games to watch this week. If if if Flagler could put a whole game together and get good goalie play, good face-off play, good wing play, they could win this game. And boy, oh boy, was I right. They did everything right. They just it was just a great effort all the way around by Flagler. It was 2-2 after one, but they dropped seven in the second quarter, Kev. Tomantevalos three, and they outscored him in the third. And they they both scored two goals in the fourth, but it was Flagler's day. And you know, they they moved to three-eight, but they're one-o in Peach Belt. That's awesome. Um Flagler goals it was uh Tyler Douglas had four. He had himself a game. Antannis this this one's a tough. Every time I think of Akuna Matata, why do I think you get Makusis, I get Di Crespino. I think that was right. Antannis Makuzis. He had four. That's like the second week in a row that that kid's balled out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Garrett McNulty with two, Garrett Moore with one, John Kersey with one, Logan Tobias with one, and just you know what, Flagler played really good. Uh they they outshot Montevallo 49-38. Um, they were both even on saves. Both goalies played pretty well, I thought. Um turnovers. Montevallo had 16 to Flagler's eight, Kev. That was a big part of the game. Uh, they were both even on clears, uh, ground balls. Again, the edge went to Flagler 24-12. They doubled him up. Uh, they had the edge in face-offs, and uh Montevallo went one for one for three on the extra man, and flagler went 0 for 1 on the extra man. But again, I just like this flagler team. I just see them trending upwards, and I like what coach has done there, and I knew if they played a good game, they could win, and they did. So chalk one up for Danny Boyd.
SPEAKER_04Well, I think I think it's not just you. I think I said because of Flagler's out of conference that I thought the set them set them up well. So I can I take a little credit too? Yeah, absolutely. I'll give you some credit.
SPEAKER_02I'll give you some credit. I know you nobody was picking Flagler to win that game. You know that. Nobody was. Well, I'll tell you what, I thought uh like just like you said. Montefalo was seven and four going into that game. How could you figure that, you know, here comes a two-and-eight Flaggler team?
SPEAKER_04I think you've got to look at who they played, and that was the main thing.
SPEAKER_02Wow, like I said, I've watched Flagler two or three times already this year. They're a good team. They're athletic. Yeah. They're still on the young side, just trying to put it together, but each week I think they improve and they're getting better.
SPEAKER_04Totally agree. All right. This is another game that I mentioned because it was the battle for the state of West Virginia first game. Davis and Elkins against Wheeling. This was a 20-18 final with Wheeling taking it. Danny, I got to watch this. I actually watched this this morning at like 6.30 in the morning because I had to see how it ended. So I got up early before work started and and and found the recording and looked at it. It was windy at Davis and Elkins for this game. Windy. Sunny, no rain or anything, but the wind was a blowing. I was like, huh, that's kind of interesting. And let me tell you, it was kind of a back and forth game. Davis and Elkins starts off with a 3-0 run. They own the first half of the quarter, but then Wheeling settles in on D, and they fight back, and it's 5-5 after one. Wheeling then chips away in the second to build a five-go lead, and it's 10-5. Centers get a few back and make it 12-8 at half. Wheeling then scores the first four and the third to take an eight-goal lead, and once again, they can kind of milk it. It's 17-11 after three. Davis and Elkin, though, starts chipping away, and they score the first two to make it 17-13. Willing answers, it's 19-13, goes back and forth, back and forth until it's about 20-15 with 2-17 remaining. You're like, okay, that's it. Davis and Elkin then goes on a tear to score three more, but they basically ran out of time and it was 20 to 18. It was a it was a really fun game to watch. Davison Elkins, Nolan Morrison, five goals, six assists. Tyler Halatka, four goals, five assists. Those falling out. Wow. Then Wheeling, Ty Taylor, seven goals, one assist. Oh, man. And Mike Anderson, five goals, one assist. So I think one of the one of the things that the senators probably would have liked to have done better is they had nine man-up chances and only converted on two. If they had done that, you know, been a few more, obviously they would have been in it. The teams were into it, though, Danny, on the sidelines, because that's kind of where the camera was, too. You could hear both sidelines going at it. It was just some battle for West Virginia. All right.
SPEAKER_0220 to 18. That must have been a pretty entertaining game.
SPEAKER_04It was. It was. There were lulls. I mean, literally, there were lulls for minutes where there was nothing, they weren't scoring, and then all of a sudden there was just one score after another. It was pretty wild. Barrages, short barrages. All right, Danny. I have a few notable games. I'm just going to read the scores. I found them all interesting. I really didn't get to watch them. I hope to later. First of all, Lincoln Memorial beat Coker 9-5. We had Coach Snow on last week. He was looking at this game. I thought it would be close. Here's Lincoln Memorial, just like Coker, a team that really didn't do much the last few years in the sack, and now they beat Coker.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04I also had Rockhurst over Meryville 9-8. Rockhurst is climbing the ladder in the GLBC. And that and it's be interesting to see how they play against Lewis and Undy, because that's the last game I had as a notable. You already discussed it in the top 10. But UI squeaked past Lewis 13-12. And if that doesn't show where the parity of the division is this season, and how, in my opinion, there is no front rudder, really. I mean, it's kind of like a crapshoot. We we're we guess on some games, we guess right, we guess wrong in others. We don't even mention Tampa, Westminster, and it goes to overtime. So what do you what do you think about where we are in the season?
SPEAKER_02You know, it's kind of it's it's different from last season when Tampa was just rolling over everybody and and and Lemoyne was in there a little bit. It's it's a different season this year. You know, I look at like some of the teams, all right, let's let's look, let's take Lemoyne, for example. All right, they're 7-0, and they find ways to win, but they're not destroying people. They beat Mercy by two, they beat Undy by two, they beat Cine's by one. You know, they're not destroying people. They're not destroying people. There's a new offense there, but Coach, you know, Coach Sancheen's defense, you know, they they do outstanding things on defense. But again, they're not the jogger knot that maybe we think they are, or maybe the country thinks they are. Are they good? Yeah, they're good, but they're not they're just their defense is what's keeping them in games. Their offense is good, but I don't think that they're the team that they were last year. Now I look at a Delphi. I I look at a Delphi and I say, wow, that team is good, man. They're big, they're strong, they're fast, they're at 8-0. But Kevin, they're their schedule is so favorable. If you look at the Massey ratings, their strength of schedule is down down the block a little bit. They're not on the top 20 for strength strength of schedule, but there they are at 8-0, and they look tough. That's a team that could be really tough at the end. And I look at Mercy, Mercy is exactly like Mercy last year with a new coach. They keep keep they keep teams in, they're close, you know what I'm saying? They keep teams close, but they find ways to win. They're only loss two goal, two-goal loss to Lemoyne. Now let's take Lenore Ryan, for example. That team is just rolling along.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02They're scoring 17, 18, 19 goals a game. They're keeping teams to a minimum. They're a veteran squad. They're a veteran squad, made up of mostly junior, seniors, and fifty-year seniors. And they got a few key transfers that have really helped out. Oh, 100%. You know, and that team looks good to me. Lenore Ryan. That's a team that could really make a jump. In the next weeks or two, they got some big games coming up, and one of them being the Wingate game, which is gonna tell a lot for the for the South Atlanta Conference. Okay. Now let's take a look, let's look at Wingate. Eight and one, best start, best nine-game start in program history. Really super young. They got two phenomenal first team All-Americans in that attack unit that just can ball out, but they're young. Everybody else is young. Their LSMs are young, they their defense is relatively young. Right. Um, um, their midfielders are all pretty much freshmen, Kev, and and they're all contributing. And you know what? They still haven't played a complete game yet, Wingate. They haven't put it all together because they're so young.
SPEAKER_04I just I would say the limestone game was a pretty complete game. But you're right. In other games, but I think I think they got up for that game. And if you talk about it, it you just the whole list you just went through, just give yourself take a breath for a second. Let me just chime in here a little bit. Yeah, every one of the teams you talked about, except for Lemoyne and Adelphi, have lost a game. And it hasn't been something where i every game that they've lost could be a game where you'd say that I can see that it wasn't like a shocker. I mean, Lenore Ryan losing to Tampa, Wingate losing to Mercyhurst, Tampa, the only one that was shocker was Tampa losing to Frostburg State. But they're all, it's like they're it just it's like a a web. One loses to one, they beat the other. Then they they lose one, they win one, then they come back and win another. Like it's just uh I can't figure out who is on top. I think the U.S. ILA poll is very accurate where it should be. Exactly. Pretty spot on. Pretty spot on top. Maybe you could say a Delphi could be a little bit higher, but like you said, they've had their first test, and that's it. They passed that test, but what are they going to do about the other test when they play pace, when they play Lemoyne in conference? So I think you're right on, I think you've hit the nail on the head with a lot of these things. The one that I would say, Lenore Ryan losing to Tampa, I think you're right. Lenore Ryan and Wingate will be telling for the sack. And where I think, I think Lenore Ryan, well, we talked about this. That's going to be played tomorrow night before this podcast actually comes out. But I think Lenore Ryan has the edge there. And if but if they lose, that's another one of those where you just say, I don't know where this season's really going. Either team can win that game, too. That's how close it is.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you know, if you know if the Bulldogs can get up like they did against Limestone, anybody's gonna be it's tough to beat the Bulldogs if they play like that. You know what? You know what? They need to get face-offs, they need to be at least 50% at the face-offs. And and you know what? They can win that game. It's gonna be hard. It's gonna be hard. Again, young team in Wingate defensively and and parts of the offense. Very veteran-stout team on the other side. A lot of veterans, a lot of juniors and seniors, and 50-year guys, and the transfers that you mentioned. Very well-coached team. And uh you and I have both been to Hickory and both seen how it is in between the bricks. Those people come out in droves for the lacrosse team. So they get loud, they get rowdy. So that's a game to watch for sure next week. But you know what? Then you got you indie, Cap. I was just about to say that. Yeah. You know, they're seven and one. You know, but it's like you know, Westminster gave them a game. Seton Hill they beat by one. Lemoyne they lost two by two. And Mercyhurst they beat by three and hung on to beat an unranked Lewis. So what is this team? What is this team? Are they a team that can go out and beat another really, really good team like Mercyhurst? Or are they gonna be a team to let Lewis a team like Lewis, who's a good team, but they're ranked at they weren't even un, they were unranked when they played.
SPEAKER_04They're ranked this week. They've been in and out. They have been in and out, and that I go back to what we've said the last couple weeks. It doesn't surprise me that the game was that close. Maybe if you had asked me before the game started, I would have said it's going to be more than a one-goal game. I probably I would have said that. I would but in the end, these teams are all fighting and they're all fairly strong. We said that a few weeks ago when we said in the previews that a lot of these teams are improving. To improve and win more, it's a zero-sum game. Someone has to lose. And I think you're seeing that across this in this season, in this division two, with these teams you're just talking about. It's there is no clear number one.
SPEAKER_02Look at Frostburg now. Yeah. You know, they they're eight and one. They were eight and oh today. They lost their first game today. They beat St. Rose by one. They beat Lake Erie by one. They beat Tampa by two. All right, they beat up on Malone and Walsh. And and then they lost today to Seton Hill. Like, it doesn't make sense. You know, it's just like here's a team that's what what's going on in Division II? And then right.
SPEAKER_04And then you talk about Rollins. Look at Rollins, who we were like so high on, and they and they've only lost one game. And yet we haven't talked about them really since that loss against Colorado Mesa, and they're still playing well.
SPEAKER_02They are playing well, but they kind of cooled off a little bit. They didn't, they're not as hot. Look at Anderson now. Anderson's sitting at 10-1. They have the best record in all of Division II as we speak. And what are they wins? Yeah. 12th to 14th in the country now? They are 12th. Okay, and they're number 12. They were hot as hell in the beginning. And then Rollins beat them in the rain that night. Yeah. And they kind of cooled off a little bit, a little bit. They're not really the same squad as they were in the first five, six games.
SPEAKER_04They almost lose to Coker, then they come back and beat Limestone. So it's once again, what team is it? Is it injuries? Is it something else? Is it just the competition? I I think I keep on pointing the competition and how tight it is. That you can't, there isn't one team that's up above and beyond every other team.
SPEAKER_02No, I think at this this top 12, top 15, I think at any day they could beat anybody else. It's kind of really close in parody, like you said. There's only two undefeated teams in the top 10, being Lemoyne and Delphi. Everybody else has a has one loss. And they've all been in tight games outside of, you know, outside of Wingate, because Wingate's been handling business, at least offensively. They haven't been any super duper close games. They've kind of handled their business. I think Wingate has the number fourth most efficient ranked offense in the country. They they've all out on offense. And and and they only have one loss, but they're ranked number seven. It's like, it's like so Kevin, I don't know where to go now anymore after this. It's like use by this time last year, we could kind of tell which the top three or four teams and what they were doing. They were kind of separating themselves from the pack, Tampa being one, Mercy being another, and Lemoyne and Adelphi being the other, you know, the other. Those four teams kind of separated themselves from the pack last year. Right now, I don't see one team separating from the pack. Even though Lemoyne is undefeated and has beaten some good teams, it hasn't been, they haven't been sexy wins, if you know what I mean.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I hear you. I hear you. So I just think it's gonna be a wild ride for several more weeks. I don't know if it's ever going to flesh out. Even when you get to the tournament, when you get six from the north and six from the south, I think last year we had a good pretty good thought of who would who would end up. I think it's gonna be very close this year. And any of those six teams in either one, if you're looking at where we are now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. I you know, again, I think anybody in the top ten could beat anybody on any given day. I think the teams that look really hot to me right now was is Lenore Ryan and Mercy. Okay. I just think Mercy's a very good team offensively. And Brady Kiernan hasn't even played in the last three games. He's been injured. I think he comes back. Mercy plays Mercy Hearst next week. So that's going to be a big game. It is.
SPEAKER_04And that's actually the first game in my games to watch this week.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so yeah, that's so you know what? Again, here we go. We're pot we're coming into that that final stretch of the season. We're we're passing that final quarter pole and there's no clear-cut wow team. It's like, okay, Lemoyne's undefeated, and they beat teams, but they're beating teams by one, two, three goals. They're not really lighting it up. The only team I think that's really lighting it up is Lenore Ryan. I just think that that team is hitting on all eight. They're ranked fourth in the country. They're they're scoring like 18, 19 goals a game. They're stout on defense. So that team, now, two weeks ago, I would have said U Indy's a scary team because they beat Mercyhurst. But here they are. They've just, you know, they they hold on to win a one-goal game against an unranked team. It's like, what's going on? And even Seton Hill. Seton Hill goes down to UMO, who's been struggling and lose, and then come back and beat Frostburg State tonight in overtime. Right. So, like, what teams are we getting? It's like it's been pretty interesting.
SPEAKER_04I think we just hang on for a wild ride. And I don't think I'd want it any other way. No, it's kind of cool this way.
Coach's Spotlight
SPEAKER_04Okay, Danny, let's move on to our coach's spotlight. This coach was just recently announced as the new head coach for the UDC Firebirds, taking over the program from Roger Colbert. His coaching routes are seated right here in the DMV, DMV being Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, for those outside the DMV. He's been the head coach for Anna Rental Community Colleges right near, you know, kind of near Annapolis for the last seven years, leading them to be a nationally ranked team. He also was a D coordinator at D3 Catholic University, which is right in D.C. So when I say he's got roots here, he's got roots here. So why don't we just welcome him in, Coach Joe Stanilis, head coach of the UDC Firebirds. Welcome, Coach. What's up, guys?
SPEAKER_02Pleasure to be here. Just an awesome guys have. Coach, thanks so much for coming on the In the Crease podcast tonight. How are you feeling?
SPEAKER_04I'm feeling great.
SPEAKER_01I'm feeling really good about things.
SPEAKER_04Awesome. So first, congrats on being named head coach. I think I just told you before we started recording this that I since I live right here in Northern Virginia, there's nothing more I'd like to see than UDC Firebirds really start to compete in the ECC. And it's been a tough road a little bit the last few years. They didn't play for two years and then they started to get back together last year. But before we get into the team, I quickly went through what I knew of your resume from the press release. But I kind of want to hear in your own words about your lacrosse journey and how it brought you to UDC.
SPEAKER_01So for me, it'll be my 17th year coaching overall. I was a goalie at Kane University, New Jersey, that's where I'm from. Um for me at the time, my mom wanted to be wanted me to stay in state and play lacrosse uh little.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I chose Keny uh Kane University, it was a great choice for me. From there, I realized I wanted to be a coach, so I started as a goalie coach at Livingston High School in New Jersey, and I slowly just kind of climbed the ladder. Um got an opportunity to coach goalies at Howard Community College here in Columbia, Maria, where we currently live. And I was head coach at Pilates High School for a bit. We were honored enough to win a um a state championship, first time in quite some time. Wow. Obviously, I was a decorator Catholic for a little bit with um Coach Singer, which is awesome. And from there, the opportunity opened up at Interrunlo Community College, where I which I thought was a perfect fit for me. So I spent the last seven years there, which was awesome. Sent so many players, so many great schools, and a lot of scholarships, and just so much fun winning games and doing things the right way. And when this opportunity opened up, it was very difficult for me to leave Anauraldo because that's where I was for so long and my heart kind of broke for a little bit. But I the opportunity here in in DC is it's everywhere. So I'm used to commun you know, kind of recruiting from that area, so now I'm gonna recruit the whole world.
SPEAKER_04That's awesome. So just quickly, what really drew you and to make that difficult decision to take over this program now?
SPEAKER_01For me, it's I'm just I constantly chase the challenge. I want to make sure that I'm part of something that's just I want to make it better than you know how it was. And I feel that in the years past, obviously they've had some decent years, but they haven't lived up to the potential that's really there in that area. That area is awesome.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So much great um potential in being able to play lacrosse and in the capital of the country.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it doesn't get yeah. It's a lacrosse hotbed, man. Like you don't have to go too far to get really good lacrosse players.
SPEAKER_01I I already know, we're already working on it.
SPEAKER_02That's great to hear. That's great to hear.
SPEAKER_04So, and we talked about this quickly. You were hired at the beginning of the season, like three days before the first game. So two days. That's amazing. I wish it was three days. Look at that.
SPEAKER_01It's like it's it's you know, it's three days. What was that like, coach? Yeah, so honestly, we're on a Saturday, I'm I'm at, you know, we're scrimmaging Marymount. I'm the head coach Anna Rundle. Um, and on Monday, my wife and I decided to make the decision to go for this. You know, when whenever we do something, it's all in, we're doing everything the right way, right? Okay. On Thursday, we got finally cleared to meet the team. And on Saturday, I'm in New Jersey, you know, a great state, obviously. That's why we're playing called ball. And it's not about, you know, get the hero on the clear, it's about, you know, what's your name? So my lord. That's amazing. How did the kids how'd the kids respond? How'd they respond? They responded perfectly. I mean, we're all in the same boat. We understand what this you what the season really is. Um, we've got we have 19 guys on the roster, but we we usually have 15 guys show up to games overall, and a lot of those guys have never played lacrosse. So we're looking at guys we're catching and throwing, and we're learning the basics of the game at a D2 level, which is very challenging.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's just so inspiring when you see something that just kind of pops up, you know, off the list, and you realize that this is where it's gonna be. If we could if we do this the right way, if we recruit it the right way, there's so much potential here. And I'm a I take so much pride in recruiting the right way, and it's gonna be great.
SPEAKER_04So you actually just led into one of my questions that you kind of answered, and maybe you go in a little more detail. You you got there right at the beginning, you're kind of like in the middle of it, learning their names instead of doing X's and O's, right? And now you're probably at that point of having some assessment of the team. So, where do you think this team is at now? And what do you really want to accomplish this year? I know what you're trying to want to probably do from a recruiting standpoint for future years, but what are you trying to accomplish with these guys this year?
SPEAKER_01For me right now, it's laying the groundwork, understanding that we're all in something that's not, you know, we're not used to it, right? There's not 45 guys that are ready to go. It's we're you know, we're very light. So for the players that we have, lacrosse guys, you know, getting them to understand that if you decide to come back, that's awesome. And we part of something that's extremely special moving forward. And for the newer guys, it's just learning the game and growing it, you know, keeping things positive, understanding that you know we're up against some teams that we're all at 52 guys and you know, we are the biggest thing is you know, learn that humble the humble side of things. And it's you know, it's not always gonna be our best day, but moving forward it will be.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I mean, we've talked about that with other coaches, especially those that are you know, restarting programs a lot. And I I'm not gonna say this is a restart, but it is a new something new for you. And with a short roster like you've got, it's really taking these games and building based on lessons learned. Because that's about all you can do, I would think.
SPEAKER_01Well, that's that's the other piece. That's a great point. I mean, there were no scrimmages. There's no there's no really time to work on those items, right? So that first called ball game, that's a scrimmage to us. It counts, you know, as a winner. At the end of the day, we're it's you know, this is where you go in and clear, this is how we this is how we ride, you know, where we guys running off the field not using the box, you know, like all those little pieces you have to understand go a lot for the long term, you know. So whenever we play someone, they've been totally respectful and they understand what we're going through overall, but what they also understand in a couple years that have to deal with us.
SPEAKER_04So yeah, yeah. So one other thing, you there was an assistant coach, there is an assistant coach there. He was there before you, Matt Merritt, and he's been there for a while, not being paid, I don't think. I think this year was the first, if I read right, that he's a full-time assistant. So has he helped you? How how has that been with him being there and helping you in transition?
SPEAKER_01It's been it's been beautiful overall. I mean, because uh every day I'm learning stuff like I don't have keys yet, I don't have a computer, I'm I'm trying to get into the building, right? He's been down that road as a player, as an assistant, and this is his first you know full-time assistant coach job, which is awesome for him. He deserves every second of it. You know, he was a great player for the university, so it can obviously help in that regard, but he understands the game. He understands what we're trying to do long term. We can't fix everything overnight, right? But we're moving in the right direction, you know, in terms of what we see day to day, doesn't necessarily show up in game because they're playing remarkable programs, but we see it every single day, and that's what we're here for long term.
SPEAKER_04That's that's great to hear. So I've got one more question, and that really is for you to explain to our listeners what makes in your mind UDC special. If there are players, high school players that are listening right now, why look at UDC? I personally think there's a lot that that is really special there, especially one thing, it's an HBCU, which I think is a great, great opportunity for anyone. So I want to hear it from you in your words. Tell us about UDC, what you're trying to build there, and why do you think the school is special?
SPEAKER_01I think my biggest pitch is just understanding you get to play lacrosse in the capital of this country, right? So if you're looked over or if you're looking for something else that, you know, you didn't get what you exactly want in terms of the recruiting process, we're here for you. We're gonna help you out. We're gonna walk you through it. You're gonna have a staff that's gonna have a family environment. And I think the biggest picture overall is just getting that lacrosse as a family atmosphere. And if you can understand that that atmosphere early, we're gonna help you through it and be extremely competitive very soon.
SPEAKER_04That's awesome. It's funny, coach. Living in Northern Virginia, I I can tell you probably at least once a week, I'm driving around and you see a monument. You see the Washington Monument or the Jefferson Memorial, and and it's just it's almost like white noise because I've lived here for 17 years. But if you think about it, and then I think about it for a second, I'm like, oh my gosh, I just passed by the Jefferson Memorial. That is really cool. And that's what that's one of the benefits of going to school at UDC.
SPEAKER_01100%. I mean, even when I drive in in the morning, it's you don't realize that this is the capital. You know, right. We've coached for so long, we've we kind of get you know used to things from time to time, but I think the biggest piece is we want people that are hungry and ready to play and have something to prove. And we want great people. We can make you better players, but if you're a great person who strives to be part of the game, we want you.
SPEAKER_04That's great. Yeah, that is, Coach. And so I just want to thank you for coming on. I really, you know, it's funny you said trying to get an email. When I saw your name pop up that you've been hired, I was looking like every week when you finally had an email address. That's when I finally saw it, that's when I emailed you because there wasn't one before that. So and I thought Coach Merritt had enough going on that he was trying to get you keys, trying to open the door for you outside when you're knocking on it. So I'm really happy you're able to come on, and I'm really excited to see where UDC goes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, this has been an awesome experience, you know, being on your show, and whatever you guys do moving forward, I'd love to be a part of it. And I just look forward to building this in the properly the right way. And it may take a minute, but it's certainly gonna be worth it in the long term.
SPEAKER_02Coach, I love the Jersey style. I know where you're coming from, being a Long Island guy. Uh, my sister lives out in Jersey, Berkeley Heights. Gotta say it like uh Thurston Al. And when you say Berkeley Heights, you're gonna say it like this, lovely. But anyway, I I I love the you know, the Jersey, you know, the blue collar type, you know, and and uh physical type of lacrosse on defense. And um I commend you for taking that job. It's not an easy job to take, I don't think, especially being in the one place for so long and doing so well. But you know what? Uh to come in and get the job and you and your wife on Monday say, Yay, Thursday you meet the team, and then Saturday you're playing your first Division II game. I think that's amazing. It's quite the story. I don't think there's many coaches in the world that have had quite a week like that. But I, you know, I commend you for it. I really do. And I wish you the best of luck this season and and recruiting and coming up into the future. And you know what, playing in the Capitol is a pretty cool thing. I I drove through it a couple of months ago and I took my I couldn't take my eye off the Jefferson Memorial as I was driving by. You know, I I'm not used to that. So it was it was kind of cool. So, coach, thanks so much for coming on tonight. Wish the Firebirds the you know, good luck the rest of the season. Big game against Robert Wesleyan coming up, and uh, I wish you all the best. Thanks so much for coming on.
SPEAKER_01I appreciate your time so much. It means
Games to Watch
SPEAKER_01so much to me.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Now it's time to go to games to watch this week, Danny. I'll start it off this time. Last time I let you do it. So I'll start it off with, and you mentioned it earlier on Saturday. Mercy Hurst at number seven, playing Mercy number two. That's gonna be a good game. Top ten matchup, like you said, Brady Kiernan's been out. If he comes back, adds a little more flavor to Mercy. Mercy Hearst coming off uh a huge win over a uh uh uh a team that's not at their level. So the last big test they had was a loss to you Indy. Yep. It's gonna be a very good game.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Mercyhurst better watch out because Mercy's good, man. Uh they're good offensively and defensively. Tommy Amano and goal was having a hell of a year. Um, and even without Brady Cannon, they seem to do pretty well without him. Well, because they've got plenty of other offensive territory. No, they're just that.
SPEAKER_04They're playing at Mercyhurst, that's the only thing, but I would give the nod to Mercy in this one right now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think I'm gonna give the nod to Mercy on this one, but wouldn't surprise me if Mercy Hearst kept it close. It wouldn't surprise me if they won. We just talked about this.
SPEAKER_04It wouldn't surprise me. Just keep the flipping, flipping the switch.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't know which way to go sometimes with these teams. All right, who else who else do you have? It's pretty much uh, let's see, who else, Kev?
SPEAKER_04Who else do you have? I have uh there's several games on Saturday. I had Belmont Abbey Mount Olive because it's the Battle of Unbeatons in Conference Carolina, Belmont Abbey at 6-3, Mount Olive at 3-5, but they've always been their top. I obviously give the the nod to Belmont Abbey on that one, but this has always been the top-notch game in Conference Carolinas to watch. Yeah, oh, 100%. So another one I've got is the round two of the Battle of West Virginia, Davison Elkins against Alderson Bratis. We'll see where it goes. And then the last one will be Alderson Bratis against Wheeling, but that's not this week. So there'll be this is round two of the Battle of West Virginia. I like Davison Elkins in this one. I think DE. I also have this coming Saturday on the first, Colorado Mesa against Westminster. This is the heavyweights of the Army. Yeah, this will be a good game. Now, if you look at records and how they've been playing, Colorado Mesa would have the lead. But you know that Westminster always gets up for Colorado Mesa. It could be a good game. Westminster coming off of, you know, they almost beat Tampa. Then I did not get to see the game, but Florida Southern handled them pretty well a few days later. We talked about this. These teams having to travel out here and everything and long road trips. Colorado Mesa went through the same thing. So now they're back in their their home turf. Be interesting to watch. This one's at Colorado Mesa.
SPEAKER_02Um, another game Saturday. Rollins and Tampa. Oh, yeah, baby. Big SSC matchup. Um, I'm I'm excited to see Rollins play against Tampa.
SPEAKER_04I'm really excited about that because we talked about this earlier. We we're high on Rollins. I'm still high on Rollins, but we haven't talked about that much. When we had Shahe on, Catchadurian for our for our uh podcast. We we asked if he had this one marked, and they do, and this will be a key matchup in the Sunshine State.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, JB's gonna have these guys up for this one. I'm just that should be a fun game to watch. Let's see what happens. Yeah. Tampa, Tampa could could light shit up, or they could just hold on. It's gonna be it's gonna be interesting to see.
SPEAKER_04Exactly. I had one more next Wednesday because uh the podcast the following week will not be out yet, and that's on April 5th, and that's a Delphi against Pace. This is the second test for a Delphi. And Pace just lost to Lemoyne, as you talked about. They just lost him today as we're recording this. So can Pace come back and and give a good game against a Delphi? I think they can. It's at a Delphi, though.
SPEAKER_02It's tough to play at Adelphi. It is. We got a lot of fans there, a lot of people come to see them play. They have a big alumni, and uh a game like that's just gonna draw a bunch of teams, a bunch of alumni and a bunch of old players to come back, and the place gets pretty rowdy over there at a Delphi, the Panthers Stadium there. And that should be a good one. Should be a really
DII News
SPEAKER_02good one.
SPEAKER_04Okay, Danny, before we move on to the player spotlight, there is some more news, D2 news to share. And like last week, it's sad news. I mentioned it a little bit when I talked about the Barton Belmont Abbey game. Seth Mandrick, who was a graduate student and lacrosse player, was doing his fifth year at Greensboro College, was also a graduate of Barton College and a player there. He passed away last week, and it's another tragic loss. The lacrosse community. I'll tell you what, though, I watched that game on replay, and usually the game ends, right? The game ends and they stop the replay. It went on for another 15-20 minutes, and I'll tell you why it was amazing to watch because all everyone came together on that field. At the end of that game, players by both teams were joined by the Greensboro team, by alumni, by friends of Seth, as well as Seth's family. They gathered in a circle at the 50-yard line to remember Seth together. Coach Schumach, head coach of Barton, shared what he said at that gathering. And I think he sent that to us as well, and they they played it on the on the recording or after the game. And I think it really captures the moment of the weekend and the spirit of Seth. So I just want to read it for Baton, so you're gonna have to bear with me as I go through this. This is what Coach had to say that day, Saturday after the game. Thank you for being here today. I've never been more grateful for a community of people, for our families and friends, for Coach Nate and Greensboro. This is significant. And Seth's life had a significant impact on all of us. It is a beautiful thing to have so many people here who love Seth to just be together in our tremendous grief. What a gift he was to this team and all his loved ones. As a team, we talk about how when things hurt and when you feel pain in a loss or a season ending, it's because of what you put into it. You loved it and it mattered. Today it hurts so much because Seth mattered. I've had the honor of hearing from so many people over this past week, collecting great stories and memory from memories from Seth's box days with the blizzard, and of course, from his Adventures in North Carolina. He was a butte. He was an extraordinary young man. He had so many of the characteristics and qualities we seek to develop in our people. My words here are not idolizing someone who has been lost. I have great confidence in sharing who Seth was. He was unselfish, hardworking, intelligent, incredibly capable, resourceful, a great teammate, and a good friend and brother to so many guys on this team. Between my own moments of extreme sadness I've poured back into the photos and memories of these past five years. Seth's consistent presence in these moments brings me comfort, knowing his characteristics are in our program's DNA. My faith calls on me to boast in the hope of glory, to find joy in all things, and that includes great suffering. Because through suffering we learn to persevere. Perseverance we find character, and character leads us to hope, and hope will not put us to shame. A beautiful smile with empathy behind it. He was an old soul who shook your hand and looked you in the eyes. He said thank you and it never felt forced. His parents and siblings loved him well, and so did we. We will miss you, Seth, but your time with us was significant, and we will respond with faith and hope. My hope is that you will always be with us and that the best of you remains in this program's DNA forever.
SPEAKER_02Wow, such beautiful words written by Coach.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, ri it and that's what I told him. I think that just hit the nail on the head. It captured Seth, like I said. And it really captured the moment. And if you looked at that in such sorrow, there was such community. And I think that's what's important to remember.
SPEAKER_02You know, it's a it's a shame. My my my thoughts and prayers go out to Seth and his family and his poor mom and everything that's been going on. You know what? I didn't know Seth, but I've seen him play. Uh we've mentioned him on the podcast several times. He's had good games, and we've mentioned him. And it's just it's sad. And and it's just what beautiful words, Coach She made. And that was a beautiful thing between those two teams.
Plaeyer's Spotlight
SPEAKER_04All right, Danny. You know what time it is. It's time for the player spotlight. My favorite part, Kev. My favorite part. Yeah, and here we go. You know how we love our goalies. They're the best, man. Are you kidding me? They're crazy. That's why I love them. And you even mentioned this goalie, I think, the last podcast about this is one that uh a goalie you really need to watch. It does not show up in his stats all the time, but he has kept his young team in a lot. I mean, a lot of games as they progress in their second season. Yes. So why don't we just welcome him in, Reseck Goalie for the Deuville Saints?
SPEAKER_00Hey, Reese. Hey guys, how are you guys doing? Hey, Reseck.
SPEAKER_02Goalie for Deuvil, man. Thanks for coming on the show tonight. How are you feeling? How are you feeling tonight?
SPEAKER_00I'm doing great. I'm doing great. How are you guys feeling? Good. How's the weather up in Buffalo? It's been pretty cold, rainy, and snowy, but it's starting to get prettier. I mean, we've been in the 30s and 40s the past couple weeks, so it's been nice. All right.
SPEAKER_04That is that is a kid with some real, you know, spirit, some vigor, some some res, you know, what do I want to say? But he, you know, to be able to handle it. He's got to say it's nice. He's got it. 30s and 40s. So why don't we start off there, uh, Reese? You know, you you come from Minnesota, so why don't you just tell us about your lacrosse journey, how you got started, and how you ended up at Deuville.
SPEAKER_00Oh man, so um, I started off by being a baseball player, and they they are at the same season, and I just I was just a middle of a pack baseball player, liked playing the sport, was young, and my dad just like asked me about it. He's like, Have you ever heard of this lacrosse sport? It's starting to pick up around our area, and I think you should give it a try. It's the same season as baseball, so you're gonna have to give up one of the sports. And I was just like, might as well go for it. Like, I want something new. Baseball's not my thing. And so like pretty much from there, I just I loved it. I did literally never look back from it. How old were you? Oh man, I would say I was probably like eight, nine-ish. I was still pretty young.
SPEAKER_04So, really, what your dad was saying, he was sick of watching the grass grow on the baseball field. He wanted to see a little action season. Did you start off? Did you start off as goalie?
SPEAKER_00Uh no, I I played midfielder for my first two years and um got sick of the whole running thing and realized I had a knack. Realized I was pretty good at catching the ball and getting hit by it, so I was like, I'll just stick to doing that.
SPEAKER_04Uh doesn't like running and doesn't mind getting hit by a ball. He's a natural goalie, Danny. Absolutely, 100%. So how did you end up at Duville?
SPEAKER_00Well, um, so I was just when I was during around my senior and junior year, I was just really trying to get my name out there because the recruiting process really is just like a scary thing for a lot of younger guys. So I was just I was just really harped on getting my name out there. I was sending emails to coaches all the time and just trying to do whatever I really could. And so um I ended up uh playing in California and Milwaukee, Wisconsin for some tournaments with my club, uh the Minnesota Chill. And um I ended up getting an email from Coach Prince. Just he was interested in me, and we just ended up talking for a while and it ended up working out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we had Coach Prince on our show last year when they hadn't the program was just beginning. We loved him. We loved his like enthusiasm. How'd you get along with Coach Prince?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he was a good guy. He he had a lot of energy and he was just a really personable person. He was just a good guy to have around.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, now you moved on to year two with Coach Wilson. So that was one of my questions for you. You know, you're still a young team. You're you know, your team, but your team this year is now three and seven. Last year you were donuts for for wins last year, which is not unusual for a brand new young team, all freshmen. Tell us what it's been like being part of a new program like this and knowing that you are going to go through these growing pains, and then maybe we can talk about the transition from from Coach Prince to Coach Wilson.
SPEAKER_00Well, for me, I was really excited. It's just like not many people get the opportunity to just step in and just be the start of something, and especially something big. And it's just I'm I'm a really optimistic person, and I really was just excited for the opportunity and just to get to do the thing I loved and to keep going with what I wanted to do. And so it was just a great opportunity, and and I was excited right at it. And I was not scared of the first year program thing everyone is throwing around.
SPEAKER_04Well, that's great because that's exactly the attitude you need because 100%. You just said it. You are putting the imprint of what this program will be for the rest of its life. You are actually making you're part of that foundation, which if you look at it that way, that is a really cool thing. Everyone's gonna be looking back at at players like you who who made that foundation for the Deuville Saints.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, absolutely. So tell me what it's like in Forest Lake, Minnesota. Because you know what? Minnesota is really starting to produce some uh really good College Lacrosse players. Uh what's it like in Forest Lake?
SPEAKER_00You know, there's just a lot of water, a lot of lakes, man. Oh but on a more serious weather. What what what city is it close to?
SPEAKER_02What big city?
SPEAKER_00We're pretty close to like the still water and like we're close to the Twin Cities too. We're about like a half hour out. We're not far at all. So we're in the we're in the metro area just outside, and it's yeah, it's it's a it's a busy town. We got we got a lot of in in and out traffic, but we're also close to everything, so it's not like I was too far from anything. So I was always running around at lacrosse practices, playing all these different teams and meeting everyone. It was it was pretty cool.
SPEAKER_04Right. Sounds good. Yeah, so now let's talk about what the transition was like from going from Coach Prince to now Coach Wilson. How how was that for the team? It seems like you guys have and we had Coach Wilson on. It seems like everyone bought in and was just ready to say, hey, we're just gonna start in our second year. It's not and we're just doing it with a new coach. How has that been for you guys?
SPEAKER_00I think that it's been really good. Um, Coach Wilson's been extremely amazing since even the first email he sent out. He's been su he's he loves this sport more than I've ever seen anything like it. And so he's just always bouncing around doing a million things, keeping us on our toes, and it's a good thing. And he's really just like he's kept us busy and really showed us what it means to just like work hard and also build a new culture around here. Like, we're just there's just a whole new team in this second year program than we saw from last year, and it's and it shows on the field and outside the field, and a lot of it really came with the energy and the fundamentals that Coach Wilson brought with him.
SPEAKER_02That's phenomenal. That's phenomenal. Let me ask you when Deuville Saints got that first W uh against Dominican, what was it like in the locker room? Tell me what it was like.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it was crazy, it was so awesome. We all wanted it so unbelievably bad. Yeah, the the vibes were just really high. Everyone really we really earned it, and we all felt that we did, and it was about time, and so it was good, and we all just we did it for each other. Good spirits were around.
SPEAKER_04That is awesome. That is that's a great question, Danny. Well, let me ask you this from your position. You know, we talked about a little before we started recording, you and I, Reese, about your position and going up against some of these big teams in the ECC. How do you keep because if you like we said at the beginning of the intro, if you look at your stats, it's not like you're gonna jump off the page amongst the goalies in Division II. But I I've watched you play. I've watched you in the cage, and you do you keep your team in a lot of games, like I said. I wasn't that wasn't just platitudes for the intro. I've watched you play. So how do you how do you do that though when you go up against like you just finished with Mercy and that game was 26-2? And that's a total team, that's not just you in the cage. So how do you keep your mentally in the game when you're you're dealing with all that?
SPEAKER_00Well, so mentally, um, it's funny you bring it up. Mentally is the hardest game for a goalie, I think. And I would say that's the hardest game that I've always had my entire life, is it's so hard to not feel like it's your all your fault. But um, Coach Wilson's been really good about helping me out with that, but I also have just like been growing up and figuring that out myself that I can only do so much, and that as long as I'm trying my hardest, I'm doing my part, and so that's just a lot of the baseline mindset I have. But I also go into all these games with just the thought that they're just human beings too, and they're all just lacrosse players too. And like we have all these big names being thrown around, and I'm just I'm not too crazed about it. It's just like I'm excited to play these teams, and like playing a great team like Mercy has a great opportunity, and you good they really showed like how great of a team they really were. And we just it's really it's just fun to get to see that level of competition and just compare yourselves and also just see how everything works out.
SPEAKER_02You know, when you're a young team and a young program and you play again against a team like Mercy, who's national runner-up, you know, and really stacked with all Americans and all conference kids on both sides of the ball. I just think that teams like you get better when you play teams like that. Even if you only score three or four goals and you get beat up, but you you hone your craft, you're honing your craft, and then you can tell your others, you know, and you see it, hey, this is what we need to be, this is what we aspire to be.
SPEAKER_04Right. It becomes your benchmark. And you guys are just like Danny said, uh you're growing, and those games are lessons learned. And you guys can then take that and build upon it and and learn from it, and then build upon it for the next game, the next season. So I'm sorry, go ahead.
SPEAKER_02He's had some great games, though, Reese. Really good games, man. 17 saves first Malone, a nine game, a nine save game, a 12 save game. Just, you know, you're just balling out on this team. I mean, you're really playing well. What do you attribute that to?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, thank you guys. Um, I attribute that really to just ultimately just hard work and just going to get it, because it's so easy to just sit there and say you want to do stuff, and then the second you have a really hard shot that hits you and you're in pain and you're on the ground, you have to get back up for the second shot. Like it's either you stay down and you get scored on, or you get up and you take another one of the chests. Like, it's just kind of stuff like that. You just you build the toughness and you you figure it out.
SPEAKER_04Sounds good. It is definitely a goalie when you're gonna do that. 100%. He talks about you get hit, you just get back up. You gotta stop the save the next one.
SPEAKER_02That they they don't even feel it till the next day, those guys. They feel it the next day. It's like, wow, what happened? Why is my shin is killing me today? Oh, that is so awesome. That's good stuff, Reese. Really good stuff.
SPEAKER_04So now talk about your teammates and your team. Still a small roster, but um, it sounds like you know, you've got some good guys on O, and you've got some good guys in D that are backing you up a little bit in in goalie. What's it like with this team and and growing this thing together?
SPEAKER_00I think it's been really nice and really, really good overall because you you can always think that it's just a downside of having such a small team, which obviously on the on the front end of it, it is because it's hard to run with not very many people. But also, um we also have a small group of guys that are always communicating together and we're really getting to know each other and just like talking to each other and bonding. And so I would say we're all just like we've gone really close with the small roster size, and we really have to rely on each other, and we really play for each other because ultimately it comes down to each other. And if one person's really not having that great of a day, it's gonna show all that much more because we don't have a big roster for them to hide in.
SPEAKER_02You know what? I have news for you, Reese. These guys are gonna become your friends for life. You know what? That's how close you're gonna be with your college buddies and then playing a college sport. And again, like you guys got a small roster, you guys are together a lot. You know what? You guys are gonna be friends for life. This is a brotherhood that's unlike any other, really. It's just, you know, it's something that's special. And you got you're only a sophomore. The team is only in its second year. You got nowhere to go but up. And now, you know, after last year struggling and getting that goose egg in that win column, this year, not only did you get one win, but you got three wins, man. And you went back to back with a couple of wins. And you know what? You're trending upwards. What's the feeling like in the locker room?
SPEAKER_00I would say the feeling the locker room is pretty much just what you said. It's trending upward. Um, we all know that we're starting to see our small successes and we're starting to get our small wins, and all those small wins stack up and we'll eventually make a big one, and we have made a couple of them too, like you said. And I just think that that just the hard work and all that has really just brought everyone together and showed that the team works hard for everything.
SPEAKER_04Well, your hard work has paid off. I mean, that's the bottom line. You guys you guys are a fun team to watch. Um, you don't back down. You you out you you play even last year. I I said this on the podcast, I think uh end of last year, beginning this year, when we did the conference preview. You may have been, you know, not had the depth last year and this year, but you guys never give up. You play four quarters, you you don't just roll over, you're gonna keep going. And that's what's so much fun to watch you guys, and fun to watch you in the cage because your attitude, I have a big smile on my face because I can just tell the way you lead this team into that kind of attitude is just phenomenal. It's it's great for the Saints, and it it brings something to your defense and even to your your offense on how you present yourself, not only to us, but I'm sure right on the field with the with your players.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely. Thank you. Well, you know what? I'm looking, I'm looking at the roster, Kevin, and I'm seeing a couple of more games that that the UGL has a real good chance of putting W's back on there, man. You know, there's a couple of games on there that that's very, very possible.
SPEAKER_04Without a doubt, I was looking at the same thing today. And and like Reese, like you said, the ECC is tough, but you're you're in it now. You're in it with three wins, you know, and you can stack some more up easily within conference.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, absolutely. We're excited to to see the rest of it and just play the rest of these games.
SPEAKER_02Well, I'm excited to watch with you guys. I'm I'm I'm excited for you.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so now though, he's gotta we've got to see if Reese can make a few more stops with answers in the firing round, Danny.
SPEAKER_02Ah, resec. Goalie for Deuville Saints steps into the fire line. He's from Forest Lake, Minnesota. He's been playing lacrosse since he's eight years old when his dad got tired of watching him play baseball. It was like watching paint dry. And uh and uh said, son, try lacrosse, and and Reese hasn't looked back now. He's a goalie at the Uville Saints, new program, got their third win of the program. These guys are on a little roll, and now you're in the firing line. Ten questions. We're gonna shoot at you, Reese. Just give us your best answer. You ready? Let's do it. Okay, favorite breakfast food. Pancakes. Oh, love you, man. Mom's best meal. That's a super hard one. Um chili.
SPEAKER_04Ooh, chili.
SPEAKER_02That must be good in the winter, mom makes a new chili. Does she send anything in Buffalo?
SPEAKER_00Does she send it to you? If it was mailable, I wish she would.
SPEAKER_02Mom, you gotta get some chili up to Reese, man. It's cold up in Buffalo. Favorite dessert? Cake, any sort. Any sort of cake. Favorite football team.
SPEAKER_00Broncos.
SPEAKER_02Broncos Broncos. I thought you were gonna go with Skull for sure. All right, favorite quarterback. Pain Manny. Good choice. Favorite cartoon as a kid?
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's a really hard one. Um I didn't watch it the most, but I would say probably courage the cowardly dog.
SPEAKER_02There's a new one for the show. That's a first, Kevin. That's a first. Okay. Here's a big one. Xbox or PlayStation? Oh, Big PlayStation. Big PlayStation 59. Okay. Runs or lifts?
SPEAKER_00Lifts. All right. Favorite music?
SPEAKER_02What's your favorite kind of music?
SPEAKER_00Um, I would say like the more hip hop RB kind of.
SPEAKER_02Well, hip-hop RB, so what was the last song you listened to?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I would say probably Lean with Me from Juice World. All right.
SPEAKER_02All right. Favorite TV show.
SPEAKER_00Currently The Last of Us.
SPEAKER_02The Last of Us?
SPEAKER_04I've never heard of that. What's that? Oh, it's a it's the it's one of the hot shows right now, Danny. Is it? It's a hot show. I haven't watched one one episode yet. If it doesn't have a ball or a puck, I don't watch it pretty much.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Best class you've taken at Deuville so far?
SPEAKER_00Um, I would say probably just some history classes. They're just fun.
SPEAKER_02Just history? Just history? American history? World history? I'd say world history, but just specify it. Okay. All right. And uh let me ask you this. Who's the funniest guy on the team?
SPEAKER_00Oh, definitely Jordan Brown. Our face-off. Definitely Jordan.
SPEAKER_02Why? What's a what what makes him so funny?
SPEAKER_00He's just, he's just the yeah, I'd say he's the loudest guy. He's always he's always drawing attention. He's just a funny dude. Everything he's saying is just not serious and funny.
SPEAKER_02Those damn face-off guys. That's so funny. Okay. Who's the most athletic guy on the team?
SPEAKER_00The most athletic. Hmm. I would say probably overall Nick Chalette.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. He's what does he do? That's so athletic. Is he one of those guys that can just do anything? Like no matter what it is, he's just like he can do it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's he does a lot, and I mean he's a midi, so that's enough to sell me. He's running a lot.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, midi's rule, bro. Okay. Um who's the one guy in the team you'd never let date your sister? Elso Jordan Brown. That's a good one, bro. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Best lacrosse memory. Best lacrosse memory. I would say probably just winning the first game, I'm not gonna lie.
SPEAKER_02I love it. I love it. That's great. I'm glad to hear that too. Okay, last question, Reese. Give us your best impression of Coach Wilson.
SPEAKER_00Oh, oh man, I gotta think of something he's saying a lot of. Hmm. Mm-hmm. Let's see if Spoke. We're gonna set up in Spoke. I'm not no Coach Wilson. I'm not a Coach Wilson. I try to.
SPEAKER_02All right. Now you gotta explain it. You gotta explain it.
SPEAKER_00What does that mean? Spoke is just uh the warm-up drill for our for a lot of our midis and attackmen while we're getting warmed up in the cages. He's just we can hear him across the field yelling at them to hop into spoke, and we always know when they're getting ready to pass around.
SPEAKER_02That's great. Reese, you did great in the firing round, buddy. You did great.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and yeah, and Reese, I just have to say, we had so much fun having you on. I can definitely see why DeUville is trending upwards. If they've got players and a goalie like you, it's just you were a lot of fun having on. And we will continue to watch DeUville and see where you go and see where you stack up in the ECC in the conference play, the rest of the conference play this year.
SPEAKER_00Well, thank you guys very much for having me and everything you guys do. I had a blast to be in here. Thank you guys.
SPEAKER_02Oh, Reese, you were a great guest tonight. I'm glad you uh took the time out of study hall to come and and and talk with us tonight. I with mom, it was only 15 minutes, so he can go back to his books and get him that chili. Okay, Mom, we need he needs some chili up in Buffalo. It gets damn cold up there. Hey, Reesec, thank you so much for coming on the show. We wish you continued success, young man, and go get him this weekend, all right? No problem. Thank you guys.
Shout outs
SPEAKER_04All right, Danny. I don't think I've enjoyed a goalie more.
SPEAKER_02Having Reseck on our show. What a cool kid, man. Sophomore, only a sophomore, too, young, but man, he was very comfortable with us. And mom, you better get him that chili. That's all I got. You know, if they can if they can deliver live fish for your aquarium, I think she can get him some chili up into Buffalo, don't you think? No, what a great kid, Breesa, he was. And he's a good goalie, man. He's on a team that's struggling, you know. They're young and new program, a second new coach, but he's loving it. He's very comfortable there, and what a great guest he was.
SPEAKER_04He had the right mindset. We talked about it with him when he said, No, I love that. I love the fact that we're starting something new. Not many people get to do that. I mean, that's what you've got to have when you're in a program like that. And they're starting to turn around, so it'll be fun to watch.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he was a good kid. Okay.
SPEAKER_04Now to to close out, like we started to do, I've been calling this segment Final Thoughts. I think we just have to switch it, the shout outs. Do you have any shout outs this week, Danny?
SPEAKER_02I do have a couple of shout-outs. I got a shout out to Mercy Fogo, Junior, Jason Cooner. He was amazing last week. 20 for 23 at the dot, eight ground balls and two assists versus Robert Wesley. Is that a game or what? Yeah. Shout out to Jason Cooner. Also, uh shout out to Logan Stinson, a junior attack for Wilmington. He scored five goals and the oat and the overtime game winner against Lake Erie last week. He had a big game. So shout out to Logan. And last but not least, shout out to Drew Collins. Attack the St. Michaels. Ready for this, Kev? Seven goals, two assists, four ground balls, and one cause turnover. That guy's been bawling. First Bridgeport. So, Drew, shout out to you. You did great. So those are my shout outs for this week.
SPEAKER_04Those are awesome. As usual, you've got the great ones for the players. I've got a few little bit unique ones. The first one is a shout-out to the Montreat Cavaliers. I mentioned it a little bit in the show. I actually, the funeral I went to, the funeral service I went to was for Keith Lowmiller. Montreat Cavaliers being his team, who's the head coach there, N-A-I-A team. They traveled four hours, Danny, to get to the funeral service. They changed their game. The funeral service was on Saturday. They had a game on Saturday. They changed it to Friday. Not only did they change it to Friday, but they won. First game of the year that they won. Not only that, it's the first time they beat this team, I think it's St. Andrews, in six years. Wow. But now here come the chills. Montreat scored four goals in the second quarter and four goals in the third quarter. Keith Lowmiller's number at Delphi was 44. Just talking to some of the players when they were there, it just brought chills to me. That Coach Low Miller Keith was there during that game. Got to Will Romeo and they got the win.
SPEAKER_02That's cool, man. The whole team traveled four hours. That's you know what? They lost their coach. I do the same thing.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but it it's tough. It's it's a tough thing as a young kid to have to go through that too. And to do that and show up. They showed up in at first they were it they were all in their uniform jerseys, which I thought was phenomenal. It was great. Great bunch of kids. Okay, my my second shout out, it goes out to our listeners, Danny, who continue to spread the news. It's starting to gain. We hit over a thousand downloads a week because it's spreading. So I want to shout out our listeners because we bugged them to do it. They're doing a good job. So let's keep it going and get to 2,000 a week.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah, let's keep it going. Hey, you can't thank our listeners for enough. I think they really like the show, Kev. We're getting more and more DMs. I think they feel comfortable with us. Hey, did you see this? Hey, did you hear that?
SPEAKER_04Hey, hey, you're knuckle edge you were talking about Ben Foster instead of Kyle Bosch. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And they feel comfortable enough to make make corrections too. It's great. The listeners have been phenomenal, Kevin. They've been really good. All positive. Nobody has ever said anything negative, really, so far. At least, you know, I've met people at games and uh people are DMing me and just, hey, like I had a uh, you know, Danny Zavia is from Pace Dad DM'd me today. Hey, you're gonna be up there? I was like, oh man, I'm on the South Shore of Long Island. It would take me like four hours to get up there in this time of the day, you know. But you know, though they're listening, they love the show, and it's it's just growing, like you said, and it's been great.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so final shout out goes to our sponsor, Scorebreak. Any coaches out there, if you're listening, whether you're college, high school, club, whatever, please take a look at their great product. And remember, if you decide to go with them, if you get a demo and decide to do that, if you mention in the crease, you get a 10% discount on your first year. And I point that out, but really I think their product speaks for itself.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, just call them up and set up a demo and see what scorebreak can do for you because it's an amazing product. Um, just I can go, I we we could talk about it for it's just a really cool, really cool thing. So just remember, yeah. Scorebreak dot io and set up a demonstration and uh mention an increase, and you get 10%.
SPEAKER_04That's right. And if you forget the dot io at the end, just Google scorebreak, it'll come right up. Okay, great. Awesome. And and with that, Danny, that's a wrap. That's a wrap, guys.
