SPEAKER_04

Welcome, welcome, welcome to another episode of In the Peace with Danny and Kevin, a post-to-coast discussion of D2 Men's lacrosse. I'm your co-host, Kevin Stentram, and with me as always is the man who puts the third D in 3D chess, Danny Moran.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, Danny. Kevin, I don't even know what to say about that one. How's everything going in Northern Virginia tonight, my friend?

SPEAKER_04

I am raring to go. I am raring to go, Danny. We made a strategic decision, strategic tactical, last minute, to postpone this episode again to Friday because of the first round of NCAA games. Well, if we usually did it, we would have done it on Tuesday night, and we would have had a talk about games on Wednesday that we weren't going to see yet, but would have been done by the time we recorded, and then games on the weekend. So we said, okay, let's wait till we have that first round of games down. Now, what does that do? Now we're behind. Now we also haven't finished some of the conference finals from the weekend before. That's all right.

SPEAKER_00

We'll catch everybody up, man. That's all.

SPEAKER_04

So here's the deal. We talked about this. We have no top 10 roundup this

Last 7 Finals Roundup

SPEAKER_04

week, but we do have the last seven finals roundup, rapid fire style to get through. I will start off, Danny. I won't start off. You're going to start off with the games, but here's the cue to this. Seven games, four decided by one goal, and three were overtime games.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, pretty, pretty impressive, actually, when you think about it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it mirrored the week before when we were doing some of the semifinals and semifinals. Just a great week, but we got to get these through fast so we can get to the the uh the first round. So you want to start us off on the finals for some of the conferences?

SPEAKER_00

Sure. Which one uh you want to talk about? You want to talk about the CACC?

SPEAKER_04

Go for it.

SPEAKER_00

How about this? Georgian Court over Wilmington, 9-8. Georgian Court gets that AQ. Brody Seaburn and Brett Bridges led the way for the Lions. Two goals and two assists apiece. And our man, Vinny Burkhart, 18 saves on 26 shots saved. So Georgian Court is uh your CACC champs for the 2025. Congratulations, Lions.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, there was a game on Friday night, way back when now, almost a week ago, and that was the Peach Belt Armac, or really the Peach Belt Final with the Armak division, the Peach Belt Division.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Flagler against CMU.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Colorado Mesa. I told you. I told you, Kev.

SPEAKER_04

We both called it.

SPEAKER_00

I knew they were going to win this game. I mean, I don't think I think the bite lights are a little bit too big for Flagler right now. Um, again, loved their season that they had. Love what Coach Duncan does there at Flagler in St. Augustine. That team is up and coming and will be a force from now on in the South. But Colorado Mesa pulls it out 18-14. Our man, Connor Jensen, with three goals and two assists. Eric Peterson with two goals and two assists. Our boy JJ Brummet. He's like Colorado Mesa's poster boy. Two goals. And uh Nick Moore, Dylan Pless, and Mike Edwards each added two. So Colorado Mesa is your combination Peach Belt RMAC champ for 2025.

SPEAKER_04

And now here's one of those barn burners, Danny. ECC, Mercy against Malloy.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, this was a game, Kev. Malloy and Mercy are so evenly matched. They are, it's unbelievable how crazy the evenly matched they are. I picked Malloy. You picked Malloy as well. Uh Malloy pulls it out in overtime, Kev. One of our overtime games.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

11-10 over Mercy. First time ECC champs from Malloy. First time in the NCAA tournament. Brian Green led everything with five goals. Luke Hickam added two, and the game winner in OT. Congratulations, Malloy.

SPEAKER_04

And let's move to the last one you're going to review. The Sack Finals.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, the Sack Championship. Fifth seed Wingate. They're calling him the Road Warriors. The revenge tour, they're saying. Wingate kind of smokes Anderson in this SAC championship. Gets that automatic qualifier. Wingate looked real, real good in this game, Kev.

SPEAKER_04

Controlled the whole game.

SPEAKER_00

Pouring rain, rain delays, lightning delays, bad field conditions, and didn't bother the Wingate Bulldogs at all. Kyle Spence, the nation's point leader. This kid is on fire, Kev. Seven assists. Sean Clark with five goals in that game. Sam Goss with four goals in the championship. Joey Moran with three. And Quad Williams in between the pipes, who's just been playing out of his mind, had 12 saves. So the Wingate Bulldogs are your SAC champs.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so let's move on to the GMAC finals. I'll just talk about this one quickly. Seton Hill against Walsh. The final was 20-5. I don't have the stats on individuals for this one, but let's just talk about it really quickly. 7-0 after one, 15-1 at half. That's basically all she wrote. Walsh had a great season, but they really were no match for Seaton Hill this year in this final. But give them credit. Get into the finals and getting there. And Seaton Hill just delivered again against a GMAC opponent.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, good season for the Cavaliers. I agree with you, but Seton Hill's a very, very strong team nationally this year. The Griffiths, Braden Lockheed, had seven goals and two assists for them. Carter Green, Riley Grudy, and Nate Herbster, each with two. So the Seton Hill Griffiths are your G-Mac champs.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, another Barnburner in the GLVC. Maryland beats Lewis 9-8 in overtime. I think it's the one I got wrong and you got right.

SPEAKER_00

You said Maryland. You mean Maryville? Maryville. You said Maryland.

SPEAKER_04

I'll go back and look at it. I think I said Maryville.

SPEAKER_00

You said Maryland.

SPEAKER_04

Stop. Stop arguing with me. Hey, look at this game really quickly. Lewis went up early, 4-0. Maryvill answered tied Maryville tied it at four. And then it's just back and forth of mini runs. Maryland scores the last three goals to win with Trent Zemey scoring the final in overtime with 148 left to rally Maryville Men's lacrosse team to a 9-8 victory. Maryville Trent Zeme had four goals. Ben Mickett had three goals. Clayton Sorrette had two assists, and Justin Simonson had one goal and one assist. And they are your GLVC champs and get that AQ. The Saints! And finally, for our roundup in the conference tournament finals, the NE10, the Grand A Mall, St. Anselm against a Delphi, another Barn Burner.

SPEAKER_00

Barn Burner.

SPEAKER_04

Saint A's jumped out to an early lead like they did the first game, 3-0. You thought is this same thing going to happen? Different time this time. A Delphi fights back. This game is tight all the way through. 8-7 at half, 10-10 after three. I have to talk about this, Danny, because it was it was crazy how this game ended. Hawks had 33 seconds left to score. Colin Mulvey's shot gets deflected, but Claflin picks it out of the air on the crease and scores to tie it up with two seconds left. Goes to overtime. Now, St. Ay's wins the face off on overtime. They bring it down. They can't really get a good shot off. The shot clock almost runs out. The shot that they do get off is stopped by Dylan Renner at the buzzer. He outlet passes to Reese Bauer, who gets over the midline, falls on his back, as he's falling on his back. He passes the ball to Dernan, who then scores for the winner.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, what a what a crazy way to end that game, huh?

SPEAKER_04

Sequences were amazing. And for a Delphi, Michael Dernan with six goals. Braden Dunellan and Kyle Lewis both had one goal and three assists each. Noah Gibson had two goals and one assist, and Ryan Baco had two goals. So they they look good. Well, it was close. Both of them go into the NCAAs, but they get the AQ at Delphi and they move on.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Dylan Renner had 11 saves on 23 shots, faced 48%.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, very good point. I was gonna point that out. Uh Finn Grenara looked good, but Renner was better.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well, Renner's the man.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

In the NE 10, especially. You know, it was weird because St. A's was ranked ahead of Delphi, right? Beat a Delphi in the regular season, lost to them in the championship game, and they flip-flopped in the regional rankings. They flip-flopped.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Whereas Wingate lost to Anderson in the regular season, beat the pants off them in the uh in the SAC championship, and still was a lower seed than Anderson.

SPEAKER_04

So yeah, you and I talked about this. There's there's definitely some things, if I look at it from the South region, three, four, and five, you get Anderson, Lenore Ryan, and Wingate, you probably make an argument several different ways, except for maybe Lenore Ryan being at three, how they can like I really thought I it didn't bother me so much that because of the number of losses that Wingate had in conference compared to Anderson, who beat some others in conference during the regular season. I don't and we talked about this. How much is the postseason playing conference tournament ma matter? Is it the same? It should. But here's what's interesting. So I thought when it came out, I thought it I was expecting Lenore Ryan against Wingate. I just thought it would be Wingate at four, Lenore Ryan at five. I did not even when the North region was announced, Danny, I didn't even look at that until someone pointed that out with me. I'm like, that's a very good point between Adelphi and St. A's.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_04

Because I was thinking about like, oh, Mercy didn't get in, Bentley got in, Wilmington got in. You know, like what's who was the the first team out, last team in type thing? But I didn't even think about the one and two. So it was really interesting. It would be interesting to talk to someone on the committee again to see how they they broke that out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I don't think they want to talk to us, Kev.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we'll be nice. We'll

Week in Review

SPEAKER_04

be nice.

SPEAKER_00

So in the North, the final uh regionals came out last week, and uh Delphi had the one seed, St. A's had the two seed, uh Seton Hill had the three seed, Pace had the four seed, Malloy had the five, Wilmington had the six, Bentley had the seven, and Georgian Court was last uh with the eighth seed. Yep. So Delphi took care of business though with Georgian Court this year.

SPEAKER_04

Let's get into the North region that happened. First round happened last night. Now, this is something new too, now that we've bumped up to 16 teams. There are no buys.

unknown

Right?

SPEAKER_04

Like they were last year. So everyone plays. So the first round, Delphi played Georgian Court. They beat them 23-9. Woof! They scored the first 13 goals. It was 13-0 after one. But if you look at it after that, Danny, and I didn't watch this game, so I just went by the box score. I did not see this game. Georgian Court didn't give up. They basically matched them and scored in each of the other three quarters.

SPEAKER_00

It was over by then, though.

SPEAKER_04

It was. I mean, that's the point. It's over because you can't close that size of a gap.

SPEAKER_00

No. No. They scored 13 unanswered, man. That's incredible.

SPEAKER_04

They scored 13 in the first quarter. First quarter.

SPEAKER_00

I know.

SPEAKER_04

Unanswered. I thought it was. 13-0 after a while. I was looking at the box score and I'm like, oh, it still says one. It still says one. First quarter, first quarter, first quarter. But you know, Lions, first time in the NCAA. Big, big competition to go up against the Delphi. Now they played him earlier. They played him a little bit closer in the regular season. I just think I have to give them credit for staying in the fight, though. Like they you're down 13-0. I guess maybe you gotta look at it like, shoot, we got nothing else to lose, but just keep on going. We got three more quarters.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Panthers scored them 13 unanswered and kind of never looked back, Kev.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Kyle Lewis, man, dishing dimes. Instead of scoring, he was dishing dimes. He had seven assists, man. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Well, and and Brandon Ellen had five assists with his one goal. Yeah. And then you have four guy, three guys with four goals each. Benny McDermott, Noah Gibson, and Michael Dernan.

SPEAKER_00

Mikey Dernan. He's been playing well lately.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And nine other players scored. Besides those guys. Besides Lewis and Gibson, McDermott, Dernan, nine other players scored goals for the Panthers. Dylan Renner had nine saves out of 18 shots faced, uh, 50%. And uh Adelphi places uh faces Malloy in the next round of the playoffs.

SPEAKER_04

We'll get to that. We'll get to those later. Let's start going. How about this game as a Barnburner, Danny? The Pace Malloy game. Number four against number five.

SPEAKER_00

Good game.

SPEAKER_04

Great game. 15-14 in overtime. Malloy takes it. As you remember, Pace beat Malloy 11-9 in their first game of the season. They beat Malloy.

SPEAKER_00

Right. That was a good game, too.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but okay, so you look at that close, only two goals, so you know it's going to be a close game. Pace starts off, they go on a four five-goal run to go up eight, four in the second quarter. And when I watched that game, I was watching this game late. It was already on replay, I already knew the score, I already knew what happened, but it really looked like at that point to me, Danny, that pace kind of had that game under control.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they were were they were in control a little bit. That game, you know, like you said, uh one goal lead, Pace had after one, it was 5'4. The game was tied at half eight eight after a nice four-goal run by Malloy to kind of come back at the end of that first half.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah, without a doubt. That's when you knew all of a sudden it wasn't under control.

SPEAKER_00

That's right. That four-goal run at the end of the first half. I was like, oh, okay, Malloy, okay. You come, you come into play. You know, it's survive in advance, lose, and go home, right?

SPEAKER_04

And then they came out in the third scored first to take the lead.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they kind of traded goals back and forth in the third there, you know, like good teams like they did in the first game. You know, they traded goals back and forth. How about the ending, though? The end of the third quarter started another three goal run, but this time it was Malloy's turn to take the lead 12-10 and taking that lead into the fourth. Pace made it exciting, though, man, scoring three goals, Kev, in the final minute to force overtime.

SPEAKER_04

Crazy. Malloy was still up by three with 150 left. Pace scores with 57 seconds, 57 seconds left, down two. Danny Xabia scores with 30 seconds left. And this is what's even crazier. Okay, I knew how the I knew the ending. Let me let me just give all our listeners my my sad story of yesterday. Since this came out on Sunday, I was like, okay, Wednesday, four o'clock. I'll try to make sure my calendar is open. I'll I'll end work early. I'll watch one game. I'll I'll have all my monitors up. I'll watch several games. No. I end up having a meeting with my boss from 3:30 to 5, and then I have a follow-on meeting that someone I said, okay, at 5, I can at least start watching the second half of games. No, someone put a meeting on my my calendar for 5 to 6. So all I could do is out of the corner of my eye, I had my tablet up. I could watch one game and I could try to like see what the other scores were. So this game, even when Danny Xavier scored, and I knew that Malloy won the game, I'm like, with 30 seconds left, how are they going to do it? They must win the face-off. No, Malloy wins the face-off, but the ball gets knocked out with two seconds left. Ryan Minna heaves it the length of the field, and once again, we don't even see how it scored, but you hear that Declan Lanners picks it up, he gets it and he ties it at the buzzer.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. That was crazy. Yeah. Tournament ball, man. It's like it's all out. 60 minutes, everything goes, you know.

SPEAKER_04

You gotta like your pace. Can you imagine like Ryan Minmar's like I'm just gonna throw it up? And it works. It's the Hail Mary Pass.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. You know? I bet you they work on that. Oh, they do.

SPEAKER_04

I bet you they do.

SPEAKER_00

Because it looked like they did, right?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, except I couldn't see the end. I couldn't see the connection.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, and uh overtime comes and Tommy Corcran.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, well, Kofot wrestled the ball away to gain possession, and he had a day. Then there's so now Malloy has it. They have two missed shots by Malloy. Yeah. Until Tommy Corcran, he just dodges down the alley to score for Malloy.

SPEAKER_00

Gives Malloy their first NCAA victory, Kevin program history, man.

SPEAKER_04

And they did it by winning in overtime for the third time in a row.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and the Lions go to the dance. Brian Green, three goals and two assists. He had himself a day. He's been playing really, really well lately. The last couple of weeks, Brian Green has been on fire. Tommy Corcran, three goals and an assist. Brian Delaberto, two goals and one assist. Mike D'Amato with two goals. Christian Michaels, he has been really solid in goal for the Malloy Lions all year. Ten saves on 24 shots faced, 42%. Great, great, great tournament game.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and Thomas Kofod, one goal, eight ground balls, one cost turnover.

SPEAKER_00

Jesus Christ.

SPEAKER_04

I I think I told you this, and I may have even said this on the podcast one time. I have a friend I used to work with, a former co-worker of mine whose son is like in sixth, seventh grade, and he's playing hockey and lacrosse, and he's not the biggest guy. And but they m switched him to LSM and he loves it. But he's not the biggest guy. I said, go put on tape of Kofod. Footwork, speed, and stick skills.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

He is so quick with that stick to pick up a ball and move it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he does. He just plays the game right, you know what I mean? Like he's just He knows where to be. Yeah, he he's got that in inner, inner, I don't know what you call it. That it. It. Like, I don't have it, you know. Not many people have it. He's got it. Whatever it is, he's got it, man. Covert's really fun to watch. I've been liking Malloy all year, Kev. I love what Don has done there to get these kids up to par. And get that program back to where it is. And I just I think the world of coach done. I think and you know what? The Malloy women won the ECC. So the men and the women for the first time. I mean, that's pretty cool, Malloy. So good stuff, man. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

All right. Let's move on to Seton Hill, Wilmington. Seton Hill was the number three seed, Wilmington number six. Seton Hill takes care of business 15-7. But this is what I'll tell you, Danny. Wilmington punched Seton Hill in the mouth. They went up 2-0 and that stunned them. We talked, I talked about this, and I don't know if I'm right or not, because they ended up winning 15-7. By the time after it was 10-7 after 3, they took over the game. They took over the game in the fourth quarter. But it seemed like they were never in sync during the game. They were down 2-0. They come back, they actually rattle off the next six, but Wilmington answers with two, so it's 7-4 at half. Then it kind of goes back and forth. It's 10-7 after three, so it's still a three-goal differential. Wilmington's hanging in there. They're not going away. And it really, even if you listen to the announcers, and as I was kind of watching the game, then I couldn't watch the game because I had work to do. You always thought, okay, once they did on what when Seton Hill went on one of these runs, you thought, okay, that's it. This is Seton Hill just like they're going to do what they did with running through the GMAC. Wilmington's a different beast. And I don't think they've seen that caliber for a while as they went through the GMAC.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you were talking about that. Their kind of schedule was kind of easy towards the end of the season. Yeah. We were curious as to well, they were going to be battle tested once tournament time starts. And, you know, and and Wilmington's a, you know, a really good team, you know. They got that sixth seed.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, you know, and uh one of those at-large bids and and and showed Seton Hill that, you know, hey, this work to be done.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it took it it took they they then rattled off five and they shut out Wilmington in the fourth, and that's how it got to be 15-7. But you have to give there was a lot of talk about Wilmington. Why did Wilmington make it? And two CACC teams in it. I think you can say uh in this game, if you watch Wilmington, they showed why they got in in how they played, especially the first three quarters.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Well, the one CACC team was Georgian Court. They won their AQ. Yeah, they got the AQ, exactly. So I I was a little surprised that Wilmington got in in a way.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But me too. But be that as it may, they they showed they belonged. Yep. But they played a really, really, really numbered three team in the country in Seton Hill, man.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so four Seton Hill, Brayden Lockyear with four goals, four assists. Wade Brunell, four goals, one assist. Nate Herbster, two goals, two assists.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Squad. Those boys have been bowling out. Yeah. So now they're gonna have a good game coming up.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that's a game I can't wait for. And they're gonna play against the winner of this game, St. Anselm against Bentley. Number two against number seven. St. A's goes out on top 13-10. Did you watch? Did you see any of this game?

SPEAKER_00

No, I did not see any of the St. A's games.

SPEAKER_04

I did not see this game either. I had to go back and kind of look at it in the box score. This is the one I could not get to. Bentley scored the first two, similar to Wilmington game. But Hawks answered. So it's 3-3 after one. St. A's then scores the next four, but just like Wilmington, Bentley fights back with two of their own, making it 7-5. Hawks put a dagger in their backs by scoring with eight seconds left in the first quarter. Oh, in that quarter, in the second quarter, to make it 8-5 at half. St. Anselm. Bentley, though, comes out strong in the third and they close the gap to 8-7. Then it's just back and forth of the game of runs, and that's where St. Ay's kind of got ahead because they outscored Bentley 9-5 the rest of the way. And that's all she wrote. They just kept on opening the gap a little bit in that second half every time, even though you know Bentley would come back a little bit, but then they would St. Ay's would score one extra one, and then it became a three-goal, kept it at that three-goal differential 13-10.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I mean, St. A's has been great all year, Kev.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And you know what? Congratulations to Bentley making the NCAA two years in a row. I mean, really playing well in a tough NE-10 conference. These two, it's funny.

SPEAKER_04

And we'll talk about Lenore Ryan, Wingate. Same thing here. Say A's and Bentley. They play each other like the last two years, I think they played each other twice.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

In regular season.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_04

They know each other.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes, yes. They're very familiar with each other.

SPEAKER_04

Differential, you may think like they walked away. You can't. Bentley always fought back. They were gonna fight back. They played a really good game. You know, I think one of the differences, if I looked at team stats, was clear. St. A's cleared 20 out of 21, and Bentley only cleared 16 out of 21, which is 76%. That's not where Bentley usually is at, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_04

So I think that was a little bit of a difference. And then you look at what Matt LeMay did again.

SPEAKER_00

Kid's a kid's really good. This freshman, man. Making noise.

SPEAKER_04

Will Anderson and Eddie O'Brien both had three goals, and Ben Turban had a goal and two assists. But Matt LeMay consistently is like a four or five-point score every game.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, didn't he win freshman of the year in the NE-10?

SPEAKER_04

He did.

SPEAKER_00

He's a player, man. The first time I saw him, I was like, wow, this kid's good. He had no fear for a freshman. No fear.

SPEAKER_04

The first game I saw him play, he had a shot where his hands were open. He was up top. He was 15, 12, 15 yards out. And it was such a bullet. I remember saying on the podcast, you cannot let LeMaze leave his hands open.

SPEAKER_00

No, he's good, man. And he's like I said, no fear. Just lets her go, man. Usually those freshmen will kind of like give it up to the seniors and juniors sometimes, but not him. He's like, no, give me the ball. I love the kid. I love the way he played this year. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Great. Great. Oh, then and Mark Boyle and Maverick Lion, I missed them. They both had two goals apiece. So they had a lot of scores contributing some good points for them. And that's the end of the North Region. So let's move to the South region. Let's start with Tampa, number one, against Colorado Mesa, number eight. Do you want to run through the do you want to run through what the South Region bracket was anyway first?

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I'll run through that real quick. In the South region, uh Tampa had the number one seed. Anderson, surprisingly, well, whatever, in the three seed. Four, Lenore Ryan, and the and fifth was the Wingate. The sixth seed was Meryville. The seventh seed was North Greenville. And the eighth seed was Colorado Mesa. So Tampa played Mesa. One played eight.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and Tampa takes it 12-7. They held Colorado Mesa scoreless in the first half and led 5-0.

SPEAKER_00

From what I understand, I didn't see the game, but I had some people DMing me saying, Are you watching this game? And I was like, no. And they were like, hmm. Mace's goalie's keeping them in the game. He's playing really well.

SPEAKER_04

I will tell you, I was what I was going to say, they didn't score any, but when you keep Tampa to only five goals in a half, exactly. You're doing something right.

SPEAKER_00

You're right. I agree with that. Hey, is something up with Tampa? Because Florida Southern gave him a game at the end of the season. I mean, like, they're having blown people out, you know.

SPEAKER_04

That was look at 5-0 to begin with. It stays a five-goal differential. So Tampa's able to keep that that gap. It wasn't like Color Mesa came back, but give comp Colorado Mesa, just like I gave props to Georgian court, right? They try to stay in it, and they they even they kept even with them the second half. And so you gotta think, I don't know if it's if it's Tampa, if it's Colorado Mesa. I didn't get to watch the game either. This one I just got some off the box scores, but it is interesting.

SPEAKER_00

Because I went on the I went on the Sunshine State Conference, uh, the the what do you call it? The uh streaming network that they have, and Tampa game wasn't on. It wasn't there. I was like, is JB doing that again? Not letting his game.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, see the replay. It's never it's never up.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Tampa's like the only team in the country that does that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you can't go back and watch it.

SPEAKER_00

It pisses me off. I was like, you know, this guy, I want to see the game, coach. Let let the links out. Stop being such a whole hoarder with your tape.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, but that was uh so that was the first game, the top seed against the eighth seed. The next one on my list, Danny, just because I had it there, is the number four against number five, Lenore Ryan against Wingate. Wingate pulls this off 17-16. Uh this was the game while I'm on my meetings, of course, because my son went to Wingate too. This is the one, the one I was gonna have on the tablet.

SPEAKER_00

Your boss better not be listening to this podcast. I hope your boss isn't listening. Kevin wasn't watching the game. Kevin's boss.

SPEAKER_04

When I was on the meeting with him, I was not watching the game. I will tell you that much. It was the five to six meeting when we were trying to do some marketing stuff. I was not, I was, I was doing the the the they I'm on camera too. I'm kind of like looking over. Uh um, it seemed to me, Danny, watching out of the corner of my eye, that Wingate seemed to control the game. They always had the lead, but Lenore Ryan was always lurking. Lenore Ryan's a good team, Kevin. They're good, man. And we said this. I was gonna say that. I was gonna say this. These two teams know each other so well.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, really well. Really well. I think a big thing for Lenore Ryan was Mancini at the dot. He was pretty dominant, not dominant, like crazy dominant, but he won two-thirds of uh of the face-offs there and gave Lenore Ryan a lot of a lot of possessions. And um and uh I think that was a big reason why LR was able to stay in the game. And who was the kid in in goal? Uh I don't know for LR. He was a new one. A new one. He's only started a couple of games. I forget the kid's name, but what an ending. An exciting ending between the bricks, but the day, if you ask me, Kev, belonged to Wingate goalie Quad Williams.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

He he was outstanding. I mean, in between the pipes. He stopped LR shots over and over and over again. This was a high octane game, Kev, by both teams that are very familiar with each other, like you said. Wingate got on the board first and led most of this game.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Uh with Wingate up four in the fourth. LR put on a fury run, scoring four goals in four minutes to tie it at 16.

SPEAKER_04

Well, here's here's where I'd say that, Danny. This is so now this is the five to six time frame, it's closer to six now, right? And I am looking over and I see Wingate up by three with three thirty left. And I'm like, okay, I think they've got this. I think. Little Ryan come back, but the way I see kind of watch it, and it may be tough to get three, get a goal every minute. Well, they scored three in like a minute and a half. There was still one fifty left when it was tied.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it was a minute and fifty-two seconds. But Wingay was able to answer pretty much right away after Vinny Patrico scored for the Bulldogs with a minute left.

SPEAKER_04

Phenomenal two-man game. Spence gets the double from the slide, leaves Patrico open, and he does his backhand shot, five-hole, to make them go up.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Still with a minute left.

SPEAKER_00

Still with a minute left. And again, Matt Mancini has been pretty dominant at the X for them, but not that next one, as Dylan Rupert, the face-off kid for Wingate, won the ensuing face-off. And uh they just were able to run the final minute off, you know.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. And it was interesting too, because it was a scrum at the face-off, and they're able to run on the clock, but it wasn't Laura Ryan was obviously trying to press and get the ball back.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And so I think Peyton Farley had it. I was worried for a second, and then he he was able to pass it across, and then it was a run the clock out. But it was a good, good close game against two teams that know each other well. You never really know where it's gonna go. Great, great game to watch.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and you know what, Kev, I gotta say that the Bulldogs are playing really, really well right now. Yeah, they want they've won four in a row against ranked teams all on the road during this tournament through through the SAC tournament and now the NCAA tournament.

SPEAKER_04

You mentioned it, kind of the revenge tour that's been trending on the Wingate Parents Facebook page. But if you look at what they did, beat Newberry, that they lost to in the regular season.

SPEAKER_00

Double overtime.

SPEAKER_04

Beat Limestone, they lost in the regular season. In overtime. Beat Anderson, who they lost in regular season.

SPEAKER_00

Smoked Anderson.

SPEAKER_04

Beat LR, who beat him at the Crown Classic.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, they they're playing really well. What a great time for the Bulldogs to get hot.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah. They've got a tough match coming. We'll get to that in a little bit less.

SPEAKER_00

Again, Quad Williams. Let me just talk about Quad. He was amazing. Seven, 19 saves, and he even had an assist, Kev. He had an assist.

SPEAKER_04

I saw that.

SPEAKER_00

Came up the field. I don't think I saw it in the game. I didn't want to see it in the game. Oh. He came up the field, you know, made a save, came up the field, nobody picked him up. He ran across midfield, kept running, kept running, kept running. No one picked him up. Somebody came and slid it over, bam, right over the suspense for uh a quick, easy goal. I mean, what a what a game the kid had. How about Sean Clark, the Canadian sophomore? Six goals. Yeah in the last three games. This guy's had like almost 20 goals in the last three games. He's been outstanding. Kyle Spence, two goals, seven assists. Joey Moran, three goals and assists. Vinny Patrico lit it up last night, four goals. Jackson Grant added a goal. And uh Wingate Bulldogs keep rolling, rolling, rolling.

SPEAKER_04

On to that team. We'll get to that in a little bit. Let's move to Anderson against Maryville. This is funny, Danny. Yesterday morning, which was Wednesday morning, I'm walking my dog. I hadn't really thought about all the games yet. This game popped in my mind, and I said, you know what? I think Maryville's gonna win this game. I just felt like Maryville's been in a lot of tough games, so has Anderson. I just felt like I don't know. For some reason, I just felt like Maryville was gonna match up well against them and be able to beat them. Now, this is another game I had to watch afterwards. And the first time I saw the score, it was 6-1 Meryville. What I didn't realize is that Ryan Bitterman scored the first goal for Anderson and the first goal of the game in the first minute. And if I was watching it live, I'd be like, Ryan Bitterman, Anderson offense, here we go. The rest of the game, Maryville D was played, played lights out.

SPEAKER_00

I'm glad you said that.

SPEAKER_04

Played lights out against, made Anderson uncomfortable wherever they were.

SPEAKER_00

100%. Couldn't agree with you more. I was very impressed with Maryville. I was very impressed. I saw them play earlier in the year, Kev. I guess you know, I just never really had a lot of games where I watched Maryville this year.

SPEAKER_04

I've watched several of their games. A lot of the GLVC games. I watched them against Lewis, you know, and I watched them against Rockhurst. I watched them against you, Wendy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, maybe I saw two, two, maybe three games all year. And uh whereas in the past, I've watched them more, you know. Um I've seen them live a couple of times. This is a team that's well coached, Kev. They moved the ball extremely well on offense.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

But but last night, their defense was outstanding. Like you said, they were able to keep Anderson out of sync, out of rhythm. They just couldn't find that mojo on offense. Remember, Anderson's got the number one scoring offense in the country. But here's their Achilles heel, Kev. It's Anderson's defense. It's not the best. They're ranked 31st in the country. So against high octane power offenses, Anderson can struggle a little bit, but they've been so good on the offensive side that they've been able to get leads early and keep those leads and ultimately win games. But Meryville was very impressive last night. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

They they look at it, they it was 7-2 at half. And then they continue their dominance in the third, stretching the they had the lead, it was up to 11-3 before Anderson fights back and scores three in a row. But that that was about it. You know, it was that was a five-goal difference. They never got closer.

SPEAKER_00

It was a domination. Maryville, Maryville dominated Anderson. They really did.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know, Anderson didn't look like they were ready for that game, to me. You know, so Anderson with the best year in a while, you know, lost two big games in a row, losing in that SAC championship, and then losing in the first round of Maryville. I felt that the defense was just they were so good. They keep that a high octane offense off the field. They were just and they have multiple scorers for the Saints, man. And you know what? They were scoring in a multiple kind of ways. They were scoring from X, they were scoring from the wing, from dodges down the alley, from step downs, great passing. I mean, Maryville was just, they were just impressive, Kev. Really impressive to me. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Justin Simonson with one goal, three assists. Clayton Sorrett with three goals, one assist. Colin Tobias, two goals, one assist, and then Jake Greeby, Ben Mickett, and Chris Anderson each had two goals.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Five other players added a goal, too, man. It's like, how about Dylan Ratke? Nine saves on 19 shots.

SPEAKER_04

And here's what I'd say about that. I mean, the Anderson goalie had more saves. He had more shots against him. But Ratke, he had some really great saves.

SPEAKER_00

Really good saves.

SPEAKER_04

That nine.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. No, he had some really good saves. He played well. I thought, like, again, I was impressed with Maryville.

SPEAKER_04

You know what I mean? And so it was just it was a team effort by Meryville. And that's what you needed this time. Great game. All right. Limestone, last game to go over. Limestone against North Greenville. Limestone was number two. North Greenville number seven. This, like the one and eight game, wasn't really a contest.

SPEAKER_00

No, it wasn't.

SPEAKER_04

Limestone wins 28-10. Now look at 28. 28 to 10. Versus a 12-7. Limestored first scored the first eight goals before the Trailblazers got on the board, and then it was 14-2 at half. I didn't get to see this game. I had to go on the box score. North Greenville actually outscored the Saints in the third, six goals to five goals. But once again, we talked about this in the Adelphi Georgian court game. When it's that big of a hole to climb out of, you just can't do it.

SPEAKER_00

Too big of a gap. I saw some people on some uh Instagram stuff, and like, you know, this is you know, BS like team like North Greenville getting in. I was like, hey, we have AQs now. It's not about SOS and RPI. That's for the at large guys. You win your conference, you're in, and that's the way it should be. It exactly should be.

SPEAKER_04

You Gotta give North Greenfield credit. They played well in their conference. This is the first time ever in a conf uh first ever conference championship for them, and the first time in an NCA tournament for them. That's a great game. Basically a legend in D2 for the number of times they've won the championship.

SPEAKER_00

And who's been playing with a little bit of a chip on their shoulder with everything that's been going on?

SPEAKER_04

100%. I mean, you it's I I kind of knew that they would be outmatched in this one, North Greenville. 28 though. I I don't care. I I I like to see them in there. I like to see the AQs. I don't like the AQs to go away.

SPEAKER_00

No, they were great. I loved it. It was great for D2 D2 this year.

SPEAKER_04

How do you think these teams are gonna start to be able to match up in years to come? They've got to get in these tournaments, get recruiting, but recruit better. Yes. Get the experience.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_04

Three, four years down the road, it's not gonna be the same thing of these AQs of conferences who have never been there before. That's right. They're gonna have the experience in the tournament.

SPEAKER_00

A young kid's gonna look at North Greenville and say, hey, they're conference champs. They've won 12 games. They play high quality lacrosse. They got into the NCAAs. That's a team that I might be interested in. You know, and again, getting into these tournaments and is great for recruiting, Kev. I couldn't agree with you more. Yeah, totally.

SPEAKER_04

But Limestone did go off. Zach Terry, seven goals. Austin Lamero, four goals, three assists. Carter Krasinski, three goals, five assists. Blake Merekle, three goals, two assists. Mike McGarry, three goals, three assists. Mason Carfello, three goals. I mean, they their scores scored in bunches.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they had they had themselves a day. They threw up 28 on him, Kev. Yeah. I mean, that's a football score, 28-10.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know? Hey, limestone's on a mission. Number two team in the country, man. They're just balling.

Games to watch this week

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. And that's what brings us now for the games to watch. This is now the quarterfinals in Division II. And they're all on Sunday, May 11th at 1 p.m. So let's start back up in the North Region. A Delphi against Malloy.

SPEAKER_00

These two teams, these two schools are about five miles apart, Kev. These kids know each other. They all went to high school together. They all played on club teams together. They they these two teams know each other. Like the kids know each other. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um two great coaches and Coach Dunn, Coach Purdy. Um this is gonna be I think this is gonna be a decent game.

SPEAKER_04

I agree. Look at El Delphi took care of Mercy 15-7 and Pace 16-6, which are teams that Malloy played in the season to overtime. Beat them. Lost to Mercy once, then beat them. So they're at a caliber now that they haven't been in years past. But they're going against the 2024 champs.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I do think it's gonna be a good game. I give the edge to Adelphi.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I have to give the edge to the champs, you know, until someone can knock them off. They're the champs, and that's the way I always feel about it. But Malloy has very good face-off and very good goalie play, very good LSM play, solid defense, and an offense that's deep. So I could see Malloy giving Adelphi some problems.

SPEAKER_04

I agree.

SPEAKER_00

But uh I like a Delphi in this game. I I gotta give the edge to them. But I agree. I I'm gonna say that Malloy is gonna play well. They they're playing well. They're looking good as they're doing it. They don't look sloppy at all. They're playing good teams well and coming up with wins, and that's the bottom line, the W, right?

SPEAKER_04

Exactly. Exactly. It will be a fun game to watch. Let's go to the next one: St. Anselm versus Seton Hill.

SPEAKER_00

This is going to be a great game.

SPEAKER_04

This, I wrote this down. This could be the closest match. Could be the closest match. It's at St. A's. Now that Seton Hill has gotten their feet wet with Wilmington and a little more battle tested, are they ready for a team that's been so consistent this year?

SPEAKER_00

You know, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say St. A's pulls it off.

SPEAKER_04

They're the higher seed. But I'm gonna say Seton Hill wins.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Matt LeMay and the boys, the sheriff. They got some guys, man. Seton Hill's good.

SPEAKER_04

This could be a barn burner.

SPEAKER_00

I think St. A's has played better high-quality games at the end of the season than Seton Hill.

SPEAKER_04

They played higher competition, and that is still my worry. Like I just said, a little bit. Like they're a little bit battle-tested now against Wilmington. Now they're going another level up.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. St. A's ain't Wilmington.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, Seton Hill is going to play like they played against Tampa early in the season, even though they lost that game.

SPEAKER_00

So I'm sure that this is going to be a bar burn barn burner. I'm gonna go with the home team in St. A's. I just think they're playing very well, battle-tested. Seton Hill's a great team. Coach Novotney's got these boys playing great. They play fast, out in transition. A lot of fun to watch the Griffiths play. But I don't know, man. I'm my heart, my heart and head is saying St. A's.

SPEAKER_04

It's it's a tough pick. It really is.

SPEAKER_00

It is. It is.

SPEAKER_04

It's a tough pick. I mean, it could be a picking game. We we both are putting our chips down. One of us is right, one of us is wrong, and that's a good thing. Someone will be will be eating crow next week.

SPEAKER_00

That's a good quarterfinal in the North. I like that. Yeah, yeah, it's good.

SPEAKER_04

I actually think the South is good too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I do too.

SPEAKER_04

Tampa against Wingate. Crown Classic last year ended in double overtime with Tampa taking it. Well, we talked about this a little bit earlier. Tampa was is undefeated, but they almost lost to Florida Southern in overtime and did not blow out Colorado Mesa. No. And we said this also Wingate is on a tear.

SPEAKER_00

I wouldn't want to play Wingate right now. I'm telling you. Just the way they're playing. They're playing great defense. They're playing great offense. They are moving the ball. Everybody's getting touches. Everybody's getting shots. They're playing really, really well. And they're playing with a lot of confidence right now. They're saying, hey, we just beat Limestone, Newberry, Anderson. We're just an LR. Who's next? And you know what? I think Tampa better watch out a little bit.

SPEAKER_04

I agree. I think this, we talked about the saying a Seton Hill game being a Barn Burner. I see this game. This could be another double overtime game like it was in the Crown Classic. I really see if Wingate continues to play the way they have played the last four games, which why wouldn't they? My heart is with the Bulldogs. My head, because Tampa's undefeated, and Tampa has always won out, even in close games this year.

SPEAKER_00

I almost I have to give the nod to Tampa. I think they hold the edge in the face-off game. And I think as far as like the way Quad Williams has been playing for the Bulldogs in goal, I mean I mean Tarot has been a great goalie for the Brown transfer for Tampa all year.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that would be a great matchup.

SPEAKER_00

So, you know, like I like the way Williams has been playing, and he's a lot more athletic than Tarot is. Toreau's a big boy standing in the pipes. Williams is an athlete. He'll come down, he'll score, he'll he'll he'll give assists, he plays, he pumps his team up. He's a different type of player, and he's got a lot of confidence going right now. And I'm gonna say Wingate pulled bulldogs pull off the upset. I like I think they're gonna give Tampa every bit of stuff that they can handle.

SPEAKER_04

The last two games we talked about, Danny. Seton Hill St. A's, Tampa Wingate. I can change my mind every hour of who's gonna win that game. I can make logical reasoning for both. I think we laid it out well with the Tampa Wingate game. We just we just said it, you know, like those great games.

SPEAKER_00

Tampa has not been playing great and window and Wingate has been playing great. So again, like I said, you know, when that team is rolling, when you get a team, not just Wingate, but any team that's been doing what Wingate's been doing, and then it's all been on the road, Kev. Wingate's had to travel to all these games. They're not hosting anything, and you know what? They're going in there, and it looks like everybody on this team is bought in. It's there it's everybody screaming on the sideline. Wingate looks tough. I would not want to play the Bulldogs right now.

SPEAKER_04

Yep. All right. Last game on Sunday at one, and I can't believe this, Danny. I'm flying for work on Sunday, and by the time I have to On Mother's Day? On Mother's Day. Your poor wife. Yeah, I know. That's her best Mother's Day present. There you go. Gotta get the laugh one. But like, so I'm gonna miss most of these games. I'm gonna have to get them late and watch them on recordings. Limestone against Maryville. Meryville lost to Lenore Ryan in overtime and played Tampa close and now beat Anderson. Those are similar creds as Limestone has. Wow. But Limestone has something special to play for. Yeah, they sure do. And the rock.

SPEAKER_00

Yep, yep, yep. Um, limestone in this one.

SPEAKER_04

I can't bet against limestone on this one either.

SPEAKER_00

No, home. You know, Maryville, you know I bet you they played them well. I agree. I agree. Comes down to, you know, a face-off play. Again, Maryville was very good the other day. Um, very aggressive on defense, moved the ball great on offense, multiple scorers. Maryville looked very good and impressive in their win. But they're playing a joggernaut in Limestone that might have a little bit of a chip on their shoulder with everything that's gone down with them.

SPEAKER_04

And I think defense is gonna have, like you said, I think they're gonna have to play as good, if not better, against Limestone. I think Limestone has a few more offensive shooters, firepower than Anderson. And look at Corey Lyons is good in goal for Limestone.

SPEAKER_00

He's been playing great, man. Two good goalies there at Limestone.

SPEAKER_04

It's gonna be another good game. I I give a l- I give more of a nod. I I I think I see Limestone winning this by a couple goals.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So whoever wins that other game, let's say Wingate or Tampa, whoever it is, limestone is gonna. That's a joggernaut. I mean, to play in the South, man, to get out of the South is is tough.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I agree.

SPEAKER_00

So great, great quarterfinal matchups coming up. I mean, I think it's great.

SPEAKER_04

Can't wait to watch the recordings.

Mom's Spotlight

SPEAKER_00

We have a different spotlight tonight, Danny. I am excited for tonight's spotlight, Kevin. Quite quite different for sure.

SPEAKER_04

In honor of Mother's Day coming up, we decided to bring on some people who have always been behind the scenes for their sons. The moms.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the moms, yay. Without moms, what would we do, Kev?

SPEAKER_04

Well, I'll tell you what, they provide so much support and get these players to where they need to be. Yeah, I just remember seeing my wife, they feel the pain, the injuries, the joys, and the heartaches just as much as their sons.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. I I couldn't agree with you more.

SPEAKER_04

So we wanted to bring a few of them on to tell their lacrosse mom stories.

SPEAKER_00

That's awesome. Let's do it.

SPEAKER_04

Let's do it. So tonight we have Shelby Wolf from Florida Tech and Melanie Brennan from Montevallo.

SPEAKER_00

Hello, ladies. I got some special music for you guys. All right, guys, I am so excited to have you guys on the show tonight. Thank you so much for coming on. How are you guys doing tonight?

SPEAKER_05

We're doing great. Thanks so much for having me. Thanks for including and thinking of me still.

SPEAKER_04

It's tough not to. You your presence on Instagram for me is always there, Melody.

SPEAKER_05

I know.

SPEAKER_04

And and Shelby, I have to admit, I'm so glad you pointed out what your different names on different social media is, so I could figure out how to track you too.

SPEAKER_06

It is a little bit confusing, yes. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I love it. Hey, so let me start off with you, Shelby. You reached out to us with this idea, you DM'd us on Facebook. So let me give you the floor just to talk for a few minutes about your idea behind the moms behind the player, what you were kind of thinking about.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. Thanks so much, Kevin. Um, as you know, I love the name Kevin because my son's name is Kevin. So we we say that a lot. Um, but I was listening to your podcast um that included Brad Dunn uh in it. Uh what was that in February, I guess, something like that. And he was the um he was the assistant athletic director. And I think I had to go back and look at what his other title was, the director of compliance. And so I would just was thinking, I was like, wow, I really never thought about what goes on into putting on a lacrosse game. You know, you hear people complain about this and that and the other, but you don't realize every little detail that goes into it. So I gained a whole new appreciation of the team behind the team. And so I was thinking, well, the team behind the player is the family. And so I just, and then I've um with our my college experience so far, I've um met a lot of amazing families, and everybody kind of has their story behind them. And I love to hear the stories, things that the families are going through, what the parents are doing, how far they travel, the injuries, the illnesses that are dealing with, and they're all there. They show up, they're cheering their their player on. And I just wanted to give a shout out to all of those families, moms, dads, whatever role you have, because there's a so such an amazing amount of support behind these players. And I just I don't know if they get recognized. And I just wanted to shout out that we see you, I see you. I love that. And um, it's shout out to the moms, uh, specifically today, with the families.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yes. No, I love that. I love that. It's funny you say that because our son's lacrosse journey during college, freshman year comes in, sophomore year was COVID, that's gone. He basically starts junior year. His he didn't play at all as freshman year, except in mop-up time. He was uh on the scout team a lot, and his senior year, second week, he has his ACL, MCL, meniscus blown out, and his college career is over. We still went to every home game that senior year just uh for the team, and actually also because we love hanging out with the parents, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Because we're the lacrosse moms and dads rock.

SPEAKER_04

That's right. So, and it's interesting. The other thing I would say, I'm gonna ask you this, Melody. Everyone the parents' lacrosse journey is a mirror, but it's a little bit different than how there's we always ask the players, what was your lacrosse journey? How'd you start? So I'm gonna ask you, Melody, what has been your lacrosse journey? How did you start? And how did you get to Monte Valo?

SPEAKER_05

Uh well, my husband played lacrosse at Stroudsburg in Pennsylvania. Oh, yeah. And uh so when Griff was like five, he started and he had a stick in his hand. We put him in clinic starting at five. My husband coached the town team till he hit middle school and could play for the, you know, for the school and could actually join like a regular little cross club. Um, we did everything, we did all the summer travel. Um, we really had no vacation. Summer travel for the clubs was it. My kid played many a game in Cortland, New York in the freezing cold with sleet hitting him in the face. And one day he said, I am not playing up north.

SPEAKER_00

I am going to we never looked at a school up north.

SPEAKER_05

We went all our schools we went to were south, including we visited Wingate, we visited everybody. We went to UNC a million times, we went to all the camps, and um he ended up uh playing in a D2, um, one of the summer things that they run, where the colleges come in and they watch you. He had an unbelievable, and the the assistant coach there uh saw him from Montebalo and said, Come on down, and we went down and that was it. It was we went twice and he made the decision uh his junior year.

SPEAKER_00

Wow, that's awesome.

SPEAKER_05

And that's how we got there.

SPEAKER_00

And what about you, Shelby? How'd you look?

SPEAKER_06

Um same coming up, but not really nobody in our family had ever played lacrosse. Um, some of our friends, their their kids were playing lacrosse, so we're like, hey, can Kevin come too? And this was like in middle school. And so then we started at the club level, and then there wasn't um uh a whole lot of um action happening where we lived. So Kevin ended up um becoming in the club ball with like a Pana Vidra type um the Pana Vidra area. So drove north. My husband shout out to the dad who drove him 45 minutes, and a lot of a lot of the other kids went up there as well when they were younger three times a week for to be on the Pana Vidra club ball. And then Kevin um ended up eventually going to bowls, and then eventually um he tried, he basically Kevin was looking for a smaller school. Um, so he traveled to a few other smaller uh schools and ended up uh loving Florida Tech, love the coaches, love the team, the small campus. Um didn't hurt that it was very close to home for me.

SPEAKER_00

Where's home? Where's home?

SPEAKER_06

Home Coast.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, okay. Yeah, so that is pretty close.

SPEAKER_06

Melbourne's actually um it's about an hour and 45 minutes away from our home. So we we have not missed the only lacrosse game we missed um in the past two years is when we went to the team went to Maryland to play Mercy.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_06

And we didn't go to that one because one of my employees was getting married that weekend. So we've been to all the other games, though.

SPEAKER_00

That's fantastic. That's fantastic. You know, me being a northern guy and my son going to southern school, I can't make all the games all the time. You know, it's it's difficult. But the last three weeks, I've been down there for the last three weekends. I'm exhausted, ladies. I don't know, I don't know how you guys do it, man. I don't know how you do it. I'm exhausted. I really am.

SPEAKER_06

It's a lot, and then that's the thing. What I was trying to say is that people the parents are flying from Maryland, they're flying from having from Delaware, they're like everywhere to come to all these all the games. And it's it's pretty remarkable that um that they're you know they're able to do that. So yeah, I'll just do that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, so I have to ask you, ladies, this uh my wife always tells the joke that you know when our sons were young, we have one son that didn't play lacrosse, one who did. He always tell our kids what when they're young, don't run with sticks and don't hit people. And then when he had the lacrosse stick in his hand, she would yell out, Look, if I paid good money for that thing, will you hit someone with that? Yeah. So I want to know, does your personalities change when your kids are on the field?

SPEAKER_06

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Um I think I've always been the same. I'm I'm big on the sidelines. Um, you kind of rile up the crowd. I think every video I ever made and posted is me running up and down the field telling the parents, let's go, let's go. And you know, we bring the we bring the fun. You know, that's how that's how it was.

SPEAKER_00

That's great. That's how weird.

SPEAKER_06

That's how we are too. And I I have to sometimes remove myself because I end up uh opening my mouth and inserting my own foot. So I have to I'm definitely I'm definitely cheering on the sidelines, but I'm gonna have to just put myself in timeout sometimes. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Now, as team moms, uh Melody, I'll start with you. What was your what's the big thing that you have to do? Because there's probably moms listening right now that don't know what the ladies do for the team, you know, behind the scenes, getting food ready and all that stuff.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I mean, I think it just depends on um, I mean, I think the big thing is the tailgating, but it I it's also very hard. I don't think it happens naturally. I think there's when you go into a school, you don't know everybody. Um, you're trying to figure out how to how to connect with everybody enough to get them to pull to a particular Area and tailgate so that you can meet people. Um, and you know, we started our first year was 2020, COVID. Yeah, so our entire year, um, I would travel and stand on the hood of a car in a parking lot because they wouldn't let you in near the near the field. So the first year we really met no one. It was so difficult um and very frustrating. So um the key is figuring out how to get people together to connect so you can build that community over the next couple of years. It's it's not easy, you know, depending on how big your team is and how many parents you have.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_05

And that's really what I focused on because I miss that so much. Being from up north, going down south, not knowing anybody, you know, flying in every other weekend. I mean, I flew my face off. I mean, uh I literally was gone and people couldn't believe I was flying from New York and flying home after a game, like round trip. But um, you know, doing tailgating and planning food and what time is it? Where's the meetup? Um, drop a pin so we know away games. It's a lot of work. And um, it doesn't happen just like that. You know, you have to like build the community, and that's literally what my focus has been for the past four years, and I, you know, continue to work on that.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_00

And what about you, Shelby? What are you doing behind the scenes there?

SPEAKER_06

So, our official team mom is actually a dad. His name is Tim. So shout out to Tim.

SPEAKER_00

I'm sort of the team mom.

SPEAKER_06

So I'm a team mom in training, I guess. Um what I've what I've been doing is a lot of what um Melody just said as well, and helping Tim out when he's not there. Um, what I've done this year is I we got flags, and so I have a portable flagpole that we carry around and we stake our flag wherever we're gonna be. And so that's sort of a new thing that we did this past year. But um, my husband uh is also a very good team dad, and so we like to feed everybody. So he he cooks, he brings his barbecue grill, and we feed people a lot. So the same same things that Melody just said community, getting everybody together, keeping everybody informed, yeah, helping out where you can.

SPEAKER_00

Interesting story when my middle son went to Wingate his freshman year, being being a Long Island guy, we tailgate at breakfast time. You know, it's just what we do here, you know.

SPEAKER_05

No, it's called it's called it's called muffins and mimosas.

SPEAKER_00

That's right.

SPEAKER_05

Never too early in the morning.

SPEAKER_00

Nobody was supposed to know what was in those cups, you know. But um, and my first year at Wingate, the parents were kind of not together. Yeah, and I wasn't used to that. I was like, hey, why isn't everybody together? So again, being from New York and not being able to go to every game, it was, I guess, maybe the third or fourth game I had been to, but it was like like the tenth or eleventh game of the season.

SPEAKER_02

Wow.

SPEAKER_00

And I just said, everybody together for a picture. I want all the parents, go get the wingate flag. Let's go, you know. And and this one woman who whose son was on the team there from Maryland, and uh she said, I've been waiting for three years for somebody to do that. She goes, She goes, Do you guys tailgate? I'm like, Are you kidding me? Why aren't we tailgating? She's like, Yay, we found another and it kind of changed the dynamic. And then next year we started a fan uh a family Facebook page, like a team Facebook page. Yeah, and everybody just everybody just kind of bought in after that, right? And then when Kevin came, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So when we came, this was funny. My freshman year, my wife convinced me to buy an R V to go. We we lived six hours away. So instead of taking a hotel, we were gonna stay right on the the by the field uh in this grassy area, uh, and we just stayed there, uh slept overnight in the RV, and then we get up and we would be the tailgate central. Yeah, wingate. That was your that was Sean's senior year, my son's freshman year.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_04

And that's talk about a great way uh if you have the money to be able to to purchase an RV to uh or if you already have one, but a great way as a freshman to meet folks. What's really funny about that is the next year was COVID, which was canceled. So even in 2021, and that's what you're talking about, Melody. When we came back, there was like a uh a split there because we couldn't meet our kids. We had the tail, we had the RV, we could tailgate with ourselves and people we could wave to at a distance.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it was terrible.

SPEAKER_04

It was it was just very tough to do the community until our until hit my son's senior year. Uh and that's the other reason why we did it. Like we did it literally to get that community, like you talked about, Melody, back together. Those that we had never met before because when they were freshmen they or sophomores, either the COVID hit or we couldn't uh congregate together.

SPEAKER_05

Yep.

SPEAKER_04

So it was uh it was uh well worth it. It was a lot of fun.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, we got that in the budget to buy an RV because you guys uh I remember the one year you followed one of our Canadian guys down in his RV. Remember, he tripped that's right.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, all the way across.

SPEAKER_05

He just posted that's for sale. He posted this for sale the front of the RV says lacrosse, and he said, Any Montebalo people, you get a ten dollar discount.

SPEAKER_00

We said that's great. Yeah, we we tracked him all the way across the country. That was a fun, that was a fun week. He's in Seattle.

SPEAKER_03

They really were diehard.

SPEAKER_00

He's in Tucson, he's in, you know, he was making his way down. That that was funny, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I mean, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So let me ask you this uh as kind of a closing question before we get into the real questions. This is just the warm-up, by the way. Um what would you say to parents, especially moms, but parents in general, who they're either they're you know, they're gonna their kids want to play in college. How would you say what what should they do when they if their kids are going to D2 any lacrosse, I should say, I know, but uh D2 lacrosse, especially since that's who our listeners are. What what kind of advice would you give?

SPEAKER_05

Melody, why don't you start specifically about D2?

SPEAKER_04

Or about you know being a parent on uh for a D2 lacrosse team.

SPEAKER_05

Um, well, I I think that well when we were initially uh on search and sending to schools, we didn't eliminate anybody, you know what I mean? I know that sometimes you always think your kid is the best and you always you know are hoping to be in D1 because you know that's the dream. That's the kid's dream normally. Right. Um but we didn't eliminate it, it was really about being open to any experience. I mean, did the people in my town thought we were crazy that we were going to Alabama? Um, you know, they were like, Where are you going? Alabama? Yes, we're going to Alabama. And uh, you know, we would move to Alabama. It is that beautiful where Montebalo is. You have to be open to the experience, uh, something different. Um, you really can't railroad your kid into one or the other because it they could fit somewhere great without you know being a D1 or feeling they are or feeling that they're only good enough to be D3, too. Right. Um I think keep it open, see as much as you can, get out there and visit as many schools as you can. Um and you know, uh, I just think that it helps a lot for these kids who are in a sport. If you are traveling to these far away schools, it's a built-in community. Griff went, and um, the minute he got there, they were welcoming and he it was an easy transition, and I think that's so helpful to be in a sport.

SPEAKER_00

Excellent answer. And you, Shelby?

SPEAKER_06

So I was hoping that you guys would ask this. Um, I could literally shout from the rooftops about how much I love lacrosse just in general, but I I love D2 lacrosse uh more than anything, and I have um friends that have kids in D1 and and acquaintances in D3. Um, but D2, I mean it kind of upsets me that it everybody's always like D2 is real, D2 is real. And I posted something and there I got a little hate from somebody about how D2 is a joke, but I completely disagree. Yeah, um, I think D2 is about as real as it gets. Um, these kids go through so much stuff, and for me, um I everything Melody said, don't ever limit yourself. Um, but for for our journey, it was about the the right feel for the school and the majors. It was actually a little less about lacrosse, if that makes sense. Yeah, yeah. The blend of um all the best worlds because with D2, you get academic money and you get um athletic money. And so for us, I mean that was that was important in our in our choice. Um, my son got bright futures, he got some academic money, he also got athletic money, and so he's um it helped out quite a bit.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I know. I've I've been in the same boat, man. We're in the same boat.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, amen. But so I I think that D2 is a is a great blend of um of everything. It's athleticism. Like, tell me anybody who says this isn't real lacrosse, let them get their rears out there on the field and go run up and down with some of these kids. Yep. Um great group of parents, they they play great teams. I mean, uh, I always you guys always say you can't beat the same team twice. Well, unfortunately, we lost to Tampa twice this year. So I mean it is what it is, but you know, they held their own in the beginning part of it, and then um Shelby, Shelby.

SPEAKER_00

Everybody's lost to Tampa.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, but you get to be the best, you gotta play the best. So that's right.

SPEAKER_00

That's right.

SPEAKER_06

So they're um, you know, they're the these players are getting their workouts, they're getting their time, they're focusing on their academics, they have lives. Um, so they're it's a perfect blend of being very well-rounded. So I could not recommend D2 enough for all of those reasons.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I I couldn't agree with you more. I had three boys, and all three of them played D2. And it's and it was been great for our family. It really has. And my middle son, Sean, wound up being a graduate assistant for two years and got his master's through lacrosse, through the university. That wouldn't have happened if he didn't go if play lacrosse. You know what I'm saying? That just wouldn't have happened. All the things that happened to my kids without lacrosse probably wouldn't have happened. Joseph's different, he's pretty smart, he would have got into school, you know. Yeah, but yeah, but uh um just what it's been able to do for my family. I can't say enough about it. And that's why that's another reason why I do this podcast. Yeah, because I think D2 is real. If you saw that limestone windate game two weeks ago, that was as good as lacrosse as you can get. I don't care what division. Yes, that was just high level lacrosse with high-level players on both sides of the field, offensively and defensively, playing the game at the highest level. That was an amazing game. Going into overtime, and you know, just those kinds of gamers are exciting to me. And that's what D2 brings. And a lot of people don't know that. And now we got moms testifying, Kev. Testify.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, they're gonna be taking over the podcast. We can love D2.

SPEAKER_00

We should make this a regular thing and have them on every year.

SPEAKER_04

And maybe they become our they come become our guest analysts next year.

SPEAKER_03

There you go.

SPEAKER_00

There's an idea. Now, are you guys like soup? Were you suit now? Let me start with you, Shelby, because Florida's not the biggest lacrosse state. I lived in Florida for quite a bit of time. I lived in Broward County.

SPEAKER_03

Um, a gator.

SPEAKER_00

I am gosh, go gators. But I never saw a lacrosse stick until I was at at college, and the kid was from Maryland. And I came out, I was a frat guy, you know. I came out my little and he was playing wall ball, and I was like, hey, isn't that that the game that the Indians play? And he was like, Yeah, you know, and he's throwing the ball. And I never saw it at all. Now being from Queens originally, basketball and football, basketball and football, really just basketball, right? Moved to Long Island, it's lacrosse, lacrosse, God, then family. It's like lacrosse, right? You know, God and then family. And I wasn't exposed to that at an early age. And then I got to see my kids. Now, when I started when with the kids playing lacrosse, for me, it was like watching paint dry. I couldn't take it. These kids are learning how to, I didn't know the rules. Yeah, we're throwing the ball all over the field. They were mostly just picking up balls all day, you know. But you know what? Little by little they started to excel, and then they started doing a little better, and then they got on like a CYO type team, and they were playing youth ball, and then they the sixth grade was a travel team ball, and they went on to that and they were doing okay. And I was like, hey, you know something? I kind of like this game now. And then I started going to watch high school games here on Nassau County in New York, which is a lot of kids from college come from this Nassau County from Long Island. And I was watching high school and I was like, wow, this is a really fun game to watch. The kids that can play, it's fast moving, it's go, go, go, it's no downtime, it's just kind of exciting kind of game, you know? And um again, just coming from not all across family, not all across area to where I am now, it changed our lives. It really did. It changed our lives. Has it changed your life too?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, yes, yeah. We didn't have any background in lacrosse at all. Um, and we had no idea what was happening. I I I still don't know it's happening a lot of the times, but I just um yeah, it's life changer gave gave our son a sense of confidence and a structure, a support system, and um it's it was life-changing. I'm very, very forever grateful for the people that got us into this, some friends of ours, and they were coaches of the team or locally, and um, we will forever be indebted to them for exposing us to lacrosse.

SPEAKER_00

Yep, that's great.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, all right, Kev, what do you think? So here's the deal you two are ardent listeners of this podcast, and you know the player spotlight, so you know what's coming next. It's the firing round, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we have Shelby Wolfe, Melody Brennan, two moms, Montevallo, Florida Tech with us tonight. Ladies, thank you so much for coming on tonight. We're gonna send you in the firing round. Why shouldn't you go through the firing round? If the kids go through, why shouldn't the moms you ready? I'm gonna go for both ladies. Number one, high school lax, club lax, or college lax? What's better? Shelby. College Melody College, okay. Ready, ladies? And it's not a well, let's see if you like it. Soap operas or tick tock.

SPEAKER_06

Neither.

SPEAKER_02

All right.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I kind of stopped watching both of those.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I don't really do TikTok.

SPEAKER_00

All right, that's cool. That's cool. All right. Netflix or Hallmark? Shelby.

SPEAKER_03

Netflix.

SPEAKER_00

Hallmark? Okay.

SPEAKER_03

It's a Christmas movie.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Next question. White wine, red wine, or beer? Shelby.

SPEAKER_05

Beer.

SPEAKER_00

Melody.

SPEAKER_05

Beer.

SPEAKER_00

Love you, ladies. Okay. When you were younger, did you consider yourself a sports bar girl or a club girl? Melody.

SPEAKER_06

Sports bar. Club. Club girl.

SPEAKER_00

This is great. Did you ever forget something for a game or practice like gear wise, Shelby?

SPEAKER_06

Did I forget it or did my son forget it? Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Well at the end of the day, did you get yelled at?

SPEAKER_06

Um, probably. We always get yelled at for something, it seems like. Uh used to, but yeah, uh, yes.

SPEAKER_00

What about you, Melody?

SPEAKER_05

I don't remember forgetting gear. Uh, maybe umbrellas on rain games, that's it.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Shelby, I think you answered my next question. Who was in charge of getting their gear together?

SPEAKER_05

The son. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

And what about you, Melody?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it was a combo platter, probably all three of us. My husband, I, and my son.

SPEAKER_00

It's funny. I have three kids and they're all completely different. The oldest one always had a stuff. Sean, the middle one was like eyes dotted, T's crossed, socks out, cleats out, you know. Joseph, Dad, I forgot my stick. We're like three minutes from the field. It's only it's only a 45-minute drive, right? I'm like, Joseph, when you you're gonna run on the field, and then when you get home, you're gonna run too. So, all right. Next question Which meal would your son say was your best meal? Melody.

SPEAKER_05

Breakfast.

SPEAKER_00

And what and what do you cook? Just bacon and eggs or anything special?

SPEAKER_05

I mean, Griff's a big breakfast guy. Five eggs, item French fries.

SPEAKER_00

Wow. Wow.

SPEAKER_05

Waffle on the side.

SPEAKER_00

Wow, that's on breakfast. And what about you, Shelby?

SPEAKER_06

Historically, it was probably like a loaded BLT. Um, we were always putting on the gains, extra calories, and so we um I made them a lot of avocado BLT sandwiches with like calorie-dense bread, and um you name it. Um, we were always putting on the gains.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, next question. Did either one of you play a sport in either high school or college or growing up? What about you, Shelby?

SPEAKER_06

I was a cheerleader. Um, I did not play uh uh an athletic sport, but I was a cheerleader.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so what about you, man? I know lots of cheerleaders that are athletes, so yeah, yeah, especially the flyers, the ones that fly and do all of that stuff. That's pretty crazy, right?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, nah, no school sport. I I was a cheerleader as well. And on the side, I I I actually twirled a baton. There was twirling. That's great, yeah, yeah. I forgot I did flatboard. Yeah, that was a big thing.

SPEAKER_00

That's great. What was your first thought upon smelling that sweaty gear for the first time, Shelby?

SPEAKER_06

I was like, oh my god, something has died in here. Worst bag smell ever. Yeah, it smells like cat pee. It does, it's it's close to death.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it's smelling like that.

SPEAKER_00

We literally used to just throw it on the front porch, just keep it outside overnight, don't bring it in the house.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I think leave it in the car.

SPEAKER_00

Oh god.

SPEAKER_05

We've tried every gadget that they sold to stop it. Charcoal bags, the sticks that go in the gloves. Yeah, none of it really works.

SPEAKER_04

No, it works if they actually use it and put the stick in the glove.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, we've all bought those that's the problem.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Exactly. We've all bought it. OxyClean, oxy clean works, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that does work. All right, Shelby, for you. What's your favorite hobby?

SPEAKER_06

Lacrosse.

SPEAKER_00

Wow.

SPEAKER_06

I mean, right, yeah, I really like lacrosse a lot. Like my personally, I have other things, but I like lacrosse, I like watch all the games. Um, I'm I'm getting into photography. Um, that's a personal hobby, and I've done things like stained glass and stuff, but um that's excellent. And watch lacrosse games.

SPEAKER_00

Excellent. What about you, Melody?

SPEAKER_05

Um, I literally have uh spent all my spare time in two clubs that I can't that I've not been able to exit. I still am involved in my high school lacrosse club with their clothing and spirit wear. Okay so they announce me at the meetings as the girl whose kid graduated in 2020 from graduate college. And they all go, who is she? And you know, I I started um doing spirit wear for the Montebalo parents, um, doing fundraising through spirit wear because we couldn't find anything in the stores that actually said lacrosse because Montebalo has so many sports they can't have you know a lot of quantity in specific sports. So I started doing all the spirit wear. I've been doing it ever since I left there. I continue to do it.

SPEAKER_03

Wow.

SPEAKER_05

Um, and we just keep building it. Every year I have people asking me, Are you doing magnets? Are you doing yes? And it grows and grows and grows, and we literally use it to raise money and we pay for their um senior barbecue. And we this year we had 200 people show up to that barbecue and we send a lot of people hook up with you. Yeah, it's it's a it's it's it's been a long growing process and it's just been unbelievable.

SPEAKER_00

That's great, Melody.

SPEAKER_05

Shout out to my Brewster Club, you know. There we go.

SPEAKER_00

The brew crew.

SPEAKER_05

The brew crew, they know who they are.

SPEAKER_04

We're honorary members of the brew crew.

SPEAKER_05

Yes, you are. Yes, you are.

SPEAKER_00

All right, Shelby. Give us one bucket item on your list. Well, any bucket item that you'd like to for what? Like you know, like a bucket item list, like anything on your bucket list. I uh I can't use it.

SPEAKER_04

An item on your bucket list.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, an item on your bucket list.

SPEAKER_06

One um, I well, we already I want to go to Ireland.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Go to the pubs and I want to go on the fields over there.

SPEAKER_00

Excellent. And you, Ellen?

SPEAKER_05

Um, we're looking at investing in an R V, renovating it, and literally try we're trying to move down south, and we're gonna just RV it and travel the country.

SPEAKER_00

Travel the country. That's awesome. I love that. I love it.

SPEAKER_05

You haven't even doing it, so why not keep doing it?

SPEAKER_00

That's right. Okay, last question, ladies. Give us Shelby, we'll start with you. Give us your best impression of your son.

SPEAKER_06

We'll have to lay down to do that because he's sleeping. He's sleeping.

SPEAKER_00

That was great. Oh, that was great.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, the best thing I can say is I I think I text him, I say, Griff, we're renting out your your bedroom. And he goes, What are you doing? I can't have a tweaker in there. You know, like yeah, we text each other funny things and um, you know, always tell him we're selling his room, we're gonna rent it out. That's funny.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, well, you guys, ladies, you did a great job in the firing round. That was awesome. We hope you guys had as much fun as we did.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it was great. Thank you. Thank you so much. It's a blast.

Shout outs

SPEAKER_04

How about Melody and Shelby representing the moms for this coming Mother's Day?

SPEAKER_00

They were so wonderful. I am so happy we had them on. They were cute as a button, both of them. I loved them having them on. They're just, you know, they're lax moms, and lax moms rock, Kev. Yeah, they do.

SPEAKER_04

And they came with the energy enthusiasm for their teams, for the sport, for D2. It was just great to share some time with them and see what they thought, get a different perspective from their viewpoint. Uh it was just a lot of fun.

SPEAKER_00

I loved Shelby's imitation of her son laying down, sleeping. That was pretty funny. I was laughing.

SPEAKER_04

They were great.

SPEAKER_00

They were phenomenal.

SPEAKER_04

All right, now to shout outs. Do you have any?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Shout out to the committee from kind of doing the right thing. I thought it was pretty good. I know that some people uh were bitching that their team didn't get in. Um, but I think they got it right, Kev. What do you think?

SPEAKER_04

I think they got it pretty right, too. I mean, I I don't have any real complaints like I did in the past years that I saw. You know, you can you can go back and forth on the seating and you can go back and forth maybe a little bit in in the north. You know, who maybe summon in, but I think I think it worked out when you saw how the games ended up.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I think so I I thought it was good. I thought they did a good job.

SPEAKER_00

Shout out to the committee. I think they, you know, for the first time in a couple of years they got it right. They're gonna be mad at me. They're gonna pull our prespasses back from the championship game.

SPEAKER_04

What else? You got any others?

SPEAKER_00

No, that's it, Kev.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, I've got one also, and it's it's connected with Melody and Shelby. Shout out to all the lacrosse moms, but especially my wife, Kendall. She has been an ardent fan for our son's lacrosse journey. She forced, or really convinced me, to buy an RV when our son started his college career. Best lacrosse decision I ever made. She hosted some mean tailgates during that college season.

SPEAKER_00

She sure did. Freudian slip forced.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. And she now has become a lacrosse widow because of this podcast. She's the one that suggested we start this, Danny. That's right. But I have to admit, she allows me to follow this passion and to be able to watch endless games every weekend. She puts up with it. And I And finally, for what she has done as a mom for our kids, our kids would not be the great people they are without her.

SPEAKER_00

Great, great shout-out, Kev.

SPEAKER_04

And so finally, to our sponsors, D2 Showcase.

SPEAKER_00

Uh Kev, to all the lax moms out there. Happy Mother's Day from the two knuckleheads and in the crease. And that's a wrap, right there. But also a political power, the last thing, I've got to be able to do that.
